Beavers are in trouble
I set 8 traps yesterday.  Water is extremely low.  2 of the colonies have almost no chance of making it through the winter.  I'm trapping in a refuge and have to  completely submerge my conibears.   Usually it's not a problem.   I had to look for water over 12 inches deep in some spots.   Most spots didnt have water deep enough to dround a beaver so it really limits the type of sets I can put out.  Going to have to wait for walkable ice.

Last picture is a huge beavertail with a  bite out of it.

Question, though. Once the water freezes, won't there be less water for a drowning set? Find their travel routes?

Once there is 2 inches of ice I will trap next to the lodges and and be able to find all the bank dens easier.  No need to drown them under the ice.  Bubble trails will show me where to set my traps.

Pulled all my traps today.  Got 4 today.  Not to bad considering I only had 8 traps set.  Time to start skinning
