Friday afternoon with a cold wind blowing across a swamp, I went into one of our two enclosed stands. Because the weather had been so nice no one had hunted from either of these stands this year.  I spotted two bucks 300 yards across the swamp near a small island. After a while one buck left and I spotted a doe.  I could see the buck and his rack without binoculars but with them I could count 4 points on each side not counting brow tines.  I did crank up the scope and put him in the cross hairs a few times but with the wind howling 20-25 mph I didn't want to risk a shot. I did get his attention with some loud rattling but he just racked the bushes.  He just hung around for 45 minutes I presume tending the doe.

On Saturday morning I couldn't resist going back for seconds in this stand. Around 9 AM I saw a pretty nice 8 point buck and a doe about 200 yards away near a patch of small willows in the swamp.  They hung around for about 30 minutes when I saw a big 10 pointer chase the doe.  I believe he came to steal the doe as he ran her off to a point too far for a shot where he stood there soaking up the sun.  Damn nice 10 pointer.  Then a third buck showed up but he was little and probably didn't know what was going on so he slowly retreated.  I never did see where the 8 pointer went.  Great Show for sure.  Oh, did I mention all this activity took place less than 150 yards from the other enclosed stand. I chose poorly.

Fridays view of the big 10. He was out by the island 300 yards away.

You cannot see a deer because I took this after he left. Maybe if I zoomed in while he was there you might have been able to see it.
