Good point Bobb.  LOL  It is really cold out.   Boar sells auger extension trailers so they don't take up so much room in your vehicle.    :happy1: :happy1:

When I lived in Stillwater back in the late 80's and early 90's we were always driving on the river down by the King plant right after Thanksgiving.  The lakes were not froze yet but due to the moving water mixing the cold in was the theory of how if froze so fast.  Hard to believe now. There was a river road that people from Wisco drove on to get to work at Anderson Windows instead of going down to the bridge.  Good crappie fishing down there too with a sturgy now and then.

Citiots.  These blokes prolly saw some YouTube videos of guys catching big sturgeon on the St. Croix and drove in to have their own whack at it.  Problem is...  common sense isn't common anymore.
Who doesn't know that power plants discharge warm water into rivers and you might not want to drive on the ice near them?     Citiots, that's who.   :doah:

LPS, I knew there was an ice road for many seasons, especially important to some when the Stillwater lift bridge was closed for repair.  But I didn't realize the discharge turbulence would cause areas to form thick ice faster.
Ya gotta know what and why, and clearly these guys knew neither.
