In appreciation of squirrels

National Squirrel Appreciation Day is Friday, Jan. 21! But why stop at one day? Squirrels provide a show for wildlife watchers all year long, and hunters can harvest them into winter in a season that runs through Monday, Feb. 28.

Looking for tips on hunting squirrels during the winter? Check out the DNR webinar at noon Wednesday, Jan. 26. James Burnham, DNR R3 coordinator, will discuss what to consider when hunting squirrels in winter including tactics, strategies, gear and ways to prepare them for the table.

The webinar is part of the DNR’s Minnesota Outdoor Skills and Stewardship Series, which aims to give participants quick, relevant information on upcoming seasons and events, and skills to help enjoy these opportunities. Registration is required and free.
