When we are cruising by we stop and get crab dip, different types of herring, olives and a pkg of crackers and we munch on that.  Great stuff!

So my friend boar as well as my granddaughter have mentioned swift ditch as an access point to LOTW,s fishing. I googled them, it said donations for a fee.  now she has texted me nice walleye pictures, boar can't catch fish so I don't expect any from him. :sleazy: :rotflmao: :rotflmao:

Anyone else with experience there??? It was $50.00 to go through zipple bay resort. They do earn it though.

Haven't been to Swift ditch for a few years but it is a gravel road that ends at the lake.  An access for small boats but not for big boats.  Not sure how well they plow it.  It is public but a guy lives next door that has some equipment so mayhaps he does keep it open.

Swift ditch is a public access like Barry said. A guy from Warroad decided a few years back to start plowing a road and takes(forces) donations. He charges plenty also to let you go out off of a public access. It is one thing to plow a road off a public access and put out a donation box for people to donate to road maintenance. It is another to sit there and force people to pay to use a public access. Last winter he stood in front of a snowmobile until they would pay. I would have ran his a$$ over if it were me. He does do a decent job of plowing the road from what I hear. Just irks me that he forces people to pay to use public property.

You said it was $50 to pull a wheel house out on the lake and park for 3 days.  That is cheap entertainment.  They go through one heck of a lot of work to keep those roads open and provide a spot.  $50 is almost free.

Its capitalism when you stand next to a pay box and remind users, "I did this to help you guys out.  Can you help me out to keep this going for everyone else?"

But it seems more like thuggery to physically block passage to a public access and demand tribute.

Next year when we go back I know I won't be deciding where we go out of but if we do go out of that place, I guess I will decide what kind of game he's got going, and I he is a real jerkoffs, I won't mind telling him so either. :sleazy: :happy1:

My granddaughter has sent me pictures of fish they've caught out there the past two years, it be worth the adventure. :happy1:

I agree people should help with the expenses. That being said he chooses to plow a road off of a public access. He can hope people will donate, it is another to demand it. When he originally started plowing the road it was because him and his nephew were running sleeper houses out there. Now he sold out his half of the houses and just does the road. Pulls in 60k-70k a year from the road. Charges like a resort but pays zero in property tax since he is using tax payer land.

That's alot of traffic if he's pulling in that kinda coin in a winter.  I'd probably be like the other guy, "you want to charge me for using a public landing" go eff yourself,  nobody is making you plow, now get otta my way..

I would think he would do some plowing that would make it hard for you to get back to the access so you will have to pay for that. The other resorts that charge for using their roads start on their own property.

He does plow it off the access so you have to go by his pay booth.

Glenn, most people think the better fishing is over in the east side. It can be good out of Swift early, but after the crowds so up it slows down.

not familiar with that area.  But then again I don't know nuttin about the lake. My buddy said something about an area that has alot more structure, must be it

Only thing I kinda half regret is buying a hat from zipple bay resort. They had some nice hats but I need another hat like I need hemroids. :rotflmao:

My granddaughter called last night and is trying to convince me to head that way with them next new years.
