so i dont know how many here use the stuff.....but i just learned something i'm going to pass along. DO NOT BUY AND USE THE SPLASH BRAND.

i took the trip to st cloud this afternoon. hit up Menards for a few things. i was in particular looking for some of the sidewalk ice melt stuff. the guy i asked said they moved it out in the lawn and garden dept.....where its cold. i walked past where a bunch of that was sitting, the jugs  that where not in boxes where 3/4 froze, harder then boars head!!!!!! :sleazy: :rotflmao: it said on the jug it was good to -70!!!   :doofus: :doofus:

i did fing the ice melt....but i dont need 20 lbs!!!! :pouty: :doah:

 Down home we can buy a 20# bag at FF in Mason City for less than the locals want for a bag that might be 1/2 that size.  :doah:

it take me 10 years to use 20 lbs......personally i dont like using the stuff, but sometimes i just gotta. i currently have one of them 5 lb??? jugs, bet going on 2-3 years. it turned hard as a rock, probably from the summer humidity.

besides i was more interested in passing along the info on the RV antifreeze.......i sure hope we didnt use it at the cabin........ :doah:

I use milk jugs that I cut the top out of & it does get hard in the summer but it's not that tough to break it up again. We use the kind that doesn't hurt the grass or the cement & need to put some on our steps & sidewalk quite a bit. We have quite a bit of traffic as there's a school only 1 block away.

Ok should be the right stuff and it will gel but not supposed to freeze hard as ice.

Glenn, from their website…

WHY DOES RV & MARINE OR POOL & SPA ANTIFREEZE BECOME SLUSHY OR FREEZE?
SPLASH® RV & Marine Antifreeze is designed to provide burst protection to temperatures of -50°F, -75°F or -100°F. The -50°F and -75°F solution will freeze between +20°F and +16°F.  The -100°F solution will freeze at approximately -20°F. Frozen or slushy antifreeze still provides burst protection.
