 Even the guy that was leading the AL in BA left Motown with a doughnut, going 0-9 in his last 2 games.

With 4 or 5 strikeouts to I think. He struggled.   :pouty:

The bats came to life for a much-needed win. :happy1: Good job by the bullpen , not sure who they have left though. Bundy goes today, would love to see him go at least 6. Need 1 more from the Blue Jays.

Almost blew it.

Question:  What smells worse than 3 day old road kill in July?

Answer:  Tyler Duffey's pitching.

Why is he still on the team???

Watched the twins so-called highlights this morning, more like a whoopin, been years since I followed the twinkee's,maybe since 1991 world series? But yesterday's game showed the stands mostly empty, are folks giving up on the mlb as well? curious.

 The Yankees always draw a good crowd & I thought yday was no exception. ESPN says the announced attendance for yday was 27,761 & with 39,000 capacity that's 71% full.

The Twinks were scratching and clawing to tally their runs and offer a glimmer of hope, but the Yanks just have a better lineup right now.  Certainly better than the Twins pitching was last night.

The predictable pitching collapse has arrived. We will now see the record was built on beating up teams even worse than the Twinks.

Yeah, its about time to stop using injuries as an excuse - even if their rotation is decimated.

Its about time the Twins pony up and invest in some quality starters that can go beyond 4 innings.

And maybe that's what they are trying to build, but they ain't anywhere close to that this season.

Until then the Twins will continue to be "The Little Engine that Could."

9 Walks last night. Including 1 with the bases loaded. Can't do that against a really good team and win a game.

Jeffer's breaks the ice on a 0/21 with a bomb & Buxton follows in the same inning plus a couple big hits from Miranda that were all key. Archer struggled with his control again but got out of the bases loaded only giving up 1 run & the bullpen was spotless after that. A nice win against 1 of the hottest pitchers in the AL.

A win is a win but I question the use of the pitchers. You can have all the numbers you want but at some point you have to trust these starters. They have to allow them to go more than 4-5 innings if they don't want to destroy the bullpen by July. Why not trot Archer out for the 6th? If it goes bad then start the bullpen parade. If it goes well you gained at least 1 more inning the bullpen doesn't get used. Even with Sands yesterday, 4-1 isn't something thats insurmountable. Give him a chance to get out of trouble. You don't learn by reading a sheet of paper and watching, you learn by doing.

Sorry, my old school slipped out there for a minute.   :pouty:

Was great that they were able to hang on and actually put more points on the board as the game went on.  Could see Judge talking to the others with a little concern on his face as the game went on.  Loved seeing him squirm and was also fun to see our pitchers striking him out.  LOL

There's only 2 of the 6 Opening Day starters left in the rotation at the moment & I think they are trying to protect them some too. They have had Smeltzer step up lately to help with that quite a bit in the last week or 2 though.

I hear Frank Viola say pretty much the same thing in an interview last year.  Great minds think alike, eh?

I guess if the Twins win the division and beat the Yankees in the play offs, you can crown Baldeli Manager of the Year.

At least they are relevant this year and we are talking about them.

They are relevant and fun to watch however they have played a weak schedule and the White Sux have well...sucked. July 15, if they are still within 3 games on July 15th I might drink the kool-aid. My best guess is the pitching is a shambles and we are leaning on Joe Ryan far to much.

Last night the Yankees' relievers got it done, the Twins' didn't.

Twins' relievers couldn't seem to miss any bats with their pitches.

The infield fly that hit the ground just before LeMahieu's HR in the 5th sure didn't help the cause  & neither did Polanco's wild throw to 1B that followed later. The good news is that they scored 19 runs against the # 1 ranked pitching staff in MLB, so they were in every game. I just hope they can keep the bats going like they did again last night until they get Gray & Ryan back next week in Seattle.

Yep, if you are going to have a bad pitching staff (and they are) you need a stellar defense and a offense that consistently puts up runs.

Polanco can be so good with his throws but seems almost once a game he chokes lately.  Hope he can clean that up.

Royce Lewis out for 12 months. Right knee reconstruction. Same thing he had that kept him out last year. Hard luck kid.

It's a tough deal for the kid but it was Rocco and the front office who put him out there.

He throws side-arm & as a result his throws often curve a bunch when he hurries them. :pouty: They tried to get him to throw more over the top a few years back when he was playing mostly SS but that really messed him up even worse.

Watched till the 5th inning. Finished this morning. They got 14 hits. This time with runners in scoring position. Not like the night before. And that was w/o Buxton and Ariease only half the game.

They were 7/12 with RISP & scored 7 runs with 2 out in yday's game, that will get you a W almost all the time. :happy1:  A much different story today.

Cleveland sits a game back as we get ready to play 8 games against them in the next ten days beginning tomorrow. Hopefully we can pull a few more games a head.
