The wife did a free sign up with Apple.  First 3 months free then $6.99 a month if we forget to cancel before then.  SO how many games will they put on there?  You know they are just getting us used to the upcoming pay for view of all games eventually.   :angry2:

Some good work by the bullpen yday too. Only 28 pitches for 6 outs. They're going to need a lot more pitching like that if they don't get the bats going pretty soon. They're currently 28th in team batting average (.225), ahead of only Cleveland & Seattle. Kiriloff & a starting pitcher called up & Larnach to St Paul. Thielbar to the 15-day IL & Mahle goes to the 60-day as well.

Looks like 2 more on Apple.

Fox has 2 games this summer. But everybody gets Fox.

I saw that the Wolves will broadcast their own games next season and not on a regional network like Bally.

Major Leage Baseball looks like they will pick up local broadcasts.

 Thought they were gonna come back & get yday's game but Alcala's pitch to Kwan got just a little too much of the plate. Gray's 4th inning was just plain  too. They can still win the series, Ryan gets the ball with a 12:40 1st pitch.

Been a show of hitting ineptitude. 1 lowsy hit today. wasted start for Ryan, who took his first loss.

Twins are 28th in team batting average out of 30 MLB teams.

I agree Ken, Gray only allowed 3 runs & could've easily won his game too.  :pouty: Way too many strikeouts, only 1 team has more.  According to ESPN's stats this AM their .220 BA is dead last in all of MLB. :doah:

Correa not hiting his weight. Correa is now hitting a miserable .185 to start the season, striking out 30 times in his 124 at-bats, hitting five home runs and accumulating 15 RBI.

He was booed his final 2 at bats last night. When asked about the booing. He said he would be booing him too.

I ain't callin' for anyone's head, but something has got to change because the "Twins Way" of building a pitching staff ain't workin':  one step forward, two steps back.

Another Twins trade debacle as Tyler Mahle needs Tommy John surgery

Sam Dyson in 2019. Chris Paddack in 2021. And now Tyler Mahle in 2023.

Mahle is now the third pitcher in four years who hasn't panned out due to injuries after being acquired by the Twins in a trade. All of those trades were executed by the front office duo of Derek Falvey and Thad Levine.

The Tyler Mahle Trade Was Still the Right Trade

Looking at the trade, there is no other way to frame it than to say that the trade was a failure for the Twins. Tyler Mahle contributed only 0.5 fWAR in his time in Minnesota, while Spencer Steer has already reached the majors with the Cincinnati Reds and Christian Encarnacion-Strand has a 1.103 OPS in 69 plate appearances in AAA. The front office made a poor trade that will only get worse as time goes on and the prospects they let go continue to perform.

Even though the Mahle trade was a failure, and the front office would surely take the trade back if they could, it was still the right trade to make at the time.

For years, everyone in Twins Territory had been clamoring for the Minnesota Twins to acquire a front-line starting pitcher. At the time of the trade, the Twins were in first place in the American League Central, but their starting pitchers ranked 18th in baseball with a 4.19 ERA. The Twins were a legitimate starting pitcher away from being a real threat to make the playoffs and make noise in the playoffs.

You might want to go back 4-5 years and compare that staff to what we have now.

There just is no way of making some people happy.

They are currently #4 in MLB with a 3.36 team ERA, Gray is in fact leading the league with a 1.39. Gray was a FA but both Ryan & Lopez came in recent trades for Nelson Cruz & Arreaz, respectively. Ober & Varland are the only starters who have come up through the organization.

Aside from bloggers who live in mom's basement, who has time to analyze everything... but if I did have time, it would be interesting to look at the other teams' trade records.  It would be interesting to know which front offices excel.

I admit I've got that MN inferiority complex and see things too pessimistically.  Desperate for a winner, MN teams often seem to overpay for underperformers and trade prospects away who pan out for other teams.  But then I mostly see MN failures, not the rest of the teams.  :embarrassed:

I'm not sure a MN sports team has fleeced another organization since the Vikings traded Sidney Rice and Percy Harvin to the Seattle Seahawks.  :happy1:

 A different looking batting order yday, wonder if we won't see the same today. Ryan did a great job when they had guys on base or it might've been a different game. Varland vs their #1 SP, Stroman, today.................1:10 1st pitch.

Kepler on IR.....Larnack called back up.
He went 2 for 4 with 4 RBI. Only 1 without a hit was Castro & he never had an at bat. Gallo dinged his hammy late, but Rocco says he expects him to play in LA tomorrow. Another quality start from Varland.   :happy1:

Tonight's pitcher for the Dodgers has been shakey. next 2 nights a lot tougher. Especially Kershaw tomorrow night.

Losing 9-8 in extra innings. Poor pitching and not enough clutch hitting. Whole team was at fault with this loss. Kershaw will be tough tonight.

Ober out duels Kershaw allowing only 1 run in 6 innings, Farmer has 3 RBIs on a single & a 2R HR in the 9th for a 5-1 win. :happy1:  Kershaw was off & only made it 4 innings, throwing 90 pitches. The Twins ran wild too, stealing 4 bases for the 1st time since 2017. Gray takes the mound for a 2:10 start today.
