The wife and I were able to get a food plot cut in the woods before the snow flies. Were able to cut 1/3 acre plot between our logged section and hardwoods. Ended up cutting about 10 small aspen and 2 oaks for firewood. The rest was tackled by the brush hog, but was far from a walk in the park

Just don't get discouraged it often takes years for a food plot to develop.

I think it's very hard to judge the age of a doe.  I go the head size a big head with a long snout is an older doe.  Then the back legs older does have very big hind quarters.  Then the back as older does have humps like old bucks. If they are facing you or directly away fawns are a lot narrower than a doe and a big doe is just simply big.  The picture has three sizes of doe.  Front left is a fawn from this year.  Closest to camera is an adult doe probably 1.5-2.5 years old. The one on the right is a very big probably 5-6 year old doe.

I've been pretty happy with how this fall food plot is turning out. I have never used a disc before and the one behind the 4 wheeler would barely break ground. With some weight and speed I was able to break most ground that wasn't pure grass.
Went with a mix of turnips, radish and clover.

Still need to drop a bunch of trees / branches

The poor man plot gave me the chance I was looking for. This heavy hitter was there during a day I am typically out there. The birth of our daughter took me out of for rifle this year; happy to miss one season to be able to share the rest.

Great one to look for next year. Hope he's still around. Congrats on adding to the clan.
