Some higher clouds but mostly sunny here w/a 20% chance of rain this afternoon. Had a few sprinkles on the way to Otisco last nite but nothing measurable. With the breezy conditions forecast today, could be some field activity by tomorrow afternoon in places. Slight chance for rain Sunday & Monday afternoon, then rain likely Tuesday nite into Wed. Should offer an opportunity for folks to finish remaining corn planting and make a huge dent in the soybeans.

Kind of weather related. Daughter in Red Wing and friends near Bigfirk are seeing northern lights. We’re heading to the boat landing on the other side of the lake to see if we can catch them.

Have pushed our rain chances back into Wed. nite now. Coverage is expected to be light. Good thing. Still a lot of people in denial about how wet it suddenly became here. Sure, we get a warm day now and then but stringing together days in the mid to upper 70's has been like pulling teeth. When you toss in a bunch of cloudy days and the fact it's been starting from the mid-40's a lot of mornings, doesn't take long to realize why it isn't drying out as quickly as people would like. That and over 11" of rain since March 1st. Smoky here today also. Lots of people hacking like they need to change brands.

Hazy down here but isn't stinking like it did. Maybe staying aloft more?

Smoke appears to be outta here for now. The NWS has upped our predicted rainfall amounts from a tenth to a quarter inch to a quarter to a half inch for tomorrow nite.

I thought I would get some mowing in and it got kind of cool and dark clouds and sure enough I get rained out.  Darn.  Will finish tomorrow I guess.

Another .84" at the ranch & .69" in Bugtussle overnite. NWS had stuck with us getting only a tenth to a quarter. Had .07" at the ranch at 9:15 last nite then it rained hard for a while after that. Kind of a double-edged sword. Should help corn that was struggling to emerge but it made some of the areas that need to be replanted too wet again so that will have to wait. That was a large part of the problem to begin with. Where the corn came up well it really looks good. Since May 1st, the SROC in Waseca is tracking about 23% ahead of normal on GDU's. Combined with the ample rainfall it's no wonder things are growing like they are. More rain forecast Sunday nite then again possibly Monday nite thru Tuesday. Wish I had more garden in but it's fast ground on a south facing slope. It'll happen.  :coffee:

The wind got howling today.  The big whitecaps on the river even had the water blowing off the top of them.

 The Duluth station is saying 3" for GR & over 3.5" for Bemidi from the rain that is s'posed to start late tomorrow morning. :happy1:  Hope they're right, as the lake here can still easily handle that.

.14" at the ranch & .21" in Bugtussle the past 24 hrs. Had .05" at the ranch in midafternoon then another .09" overnite. A little tacky to perform any field operations not to mention not being able to see the wet spots until it's too late. Sounds like more on tap for tonite into tomorrow. According to NOAA, we could receive another 1.75" over the next 7 days. Also looks like some areas that have been shorted might get some major rain to help get things caught up.
