Its gettin' real close to that time of year when I just say "Eff-It" and wait for it to melt instead of knockin' myself out with all the heavy, wet snow.   :surrender:

They're talking around 40 here all weekend & we had < 1" so I wasn't going to mess with it either. Brother went out with the wheeler though & there wasn't even enough for the blade to push.

Melted more snow here yesterday. Our after blizzard snow depth is down to about 6" following the rain and warmer temps. Would be nice if we could skate for the month & not get another snowfall. As recorded at the SROC, the Dec. - Feb. meteorological winter period there was the wettest on record at 6.97" of liquid equivalent precipitation.

Really?!?  I know we had a lot of snow, but I didn't think it was the most precip ever.  Where is SROC?

The SROC (Southern Research & Outlook Center) is in Waseca, right on roony's doorstep only his weather is always a little nicer. Normal at the SROC for the Dec. thru Feb. period is 3.97". One of the confounding factors about the data is that a good chunk of the precip fell as rain. A shade over 2" of that precip total was rainfall, with 1.48" of that falling in February alone. That and the snow that fell has been exceptionally wet for that period as we've mentioned before.

I know it's anecdotal evidence but I have never seen our flock here eat as much snow as they have this winter. I'd fill their water tank and frequently it would be several days before I'd notice any appreciable change in the water level. Typically I fill that water tank about every third day in the winter. I'd see them out eating the snow so wasn't concerned. That presented another issue though. Most winters, I can use their sudden increase in water consumption as an indicator the closer they get to lambing. Lots more surprises. You notice stuff like that after a while.

Life is good. They can have all the snow. It was mid 40's this afternoon and you could almost see the snow settling.  I'll take it.

 Been keeping a close eye on it myself as something's come up & we may be traveling on Monday. From what I've seen, the forecast for the metro south of Bobber has changed 2-3 times already on TWC's site. Been seeing mostly rain down by Dotch. Need to see what the TV guys think later today & tomorrow 1st.
