My brother was on Red out of Red Lake Remote yesterday. They started taking people off about 3:00 with that wind and he was off before the ice separated. Supposed to go out of there tomorrow and Wednesday. Cancelled it.

Ya know. They should make a rule that if resorts are going to let people out on the ice thru their access. Then the resorts should be required to have an operating air boat to rescue them. I am not a fan of the nanny state stuff. But that would just make sense.

Someone should have to pay to have all those emergency people be there to spend hours rescuing them. That would make people think after some get charged. Either that or charge the resorts they are going out of.

 ireally dont have an opinion per say on this, but i was scrolling through something????not sure where i read it but someone had posted a couple responses from the fire departments basiclly saying its what they chose to do and trained for.

as i seen someone post and say....pay for a service you already pay for????

but i agree to go out on a lake like that that has that kind of history of happening early ice is foolish.!!!!! :surrender:

Dates really don't mean anything though. Look at snowmobile trails. According to dates they are open .

 I wonder if any of those outfitters actually have family that are on the local fire departments & if they do does that make them think twice about the dangers of early ice conditions.

Or how about guessing how many will be stranded out there? 35 this time. Kind of like picking them score of the Vikings game.

Yes they have to leave there gear. I have no details from this event, but rescuers are there to save and help people you don't get an options to have them haul your chit back over.

Red Lake Remote was going to collect all the gear that had to be left on the ice and store it for the customers.

 Is Jonny P still running Red Lake Remote, Ken? Thought I heard somewhere that he was thinking of selling it. We bought a lot of bait from his family back when I was a kid & they had the Waskish Minnow Station. That was before our grandparents got the place we have now back in late '63.
