boobers stomping grounds Games and Norway.....the sheephead capital of Mn!!! :rotflmao:

in Stearns cty.........2 rivers........big sauk and little birch

up in Itasca cty.......deer.......moose........both cutfoot and little cutfoot.
what i found interesting is Trestle is on the list........i fish that one now and then........just a small lake with little sunfish....crappies and nords....it aint one that would jump out as a go to lake.

I would favor something like that. I would be ok with 4 fish whether walleye or sauger.

Thanks for the heads up Glenn!! Sheepshead capital is right, they took thousands of pounds of carp out last winter with many more dying cuz of winter kill but hasn't been much for commercial netting on sheepies with not many out east wanting them. The pike #'s have really dropped over the years but getting all those carp out should help there spawning areas. I found the link on the dnr website,  instead of emailing I tried calling the Spicer office but no one answered,  I gots all month it looks, I'll get his ear at some point.

just a followup on this. i sent my friends

in grand rapids DNR fisheries and email a week or so ago inquiring what they are looking to do with this Trestle lake.

he replied yesterday morning. he said they really arent planning to do any changes, that simply it was time for a new management plan and looking for input from fishermen. now i dont see where a whole lot of people are going to be responding due to the location of the lake....its back in the boonies. only 1 place on it and does have a decent access.

they did do a survey of it last summer but it hasnt been updated on lakefinder yet, he said there goal was by fishing opener.  i told him my experience ont he lake and he thanked me for the input!!!! :happy1:

I tried calling again but notta, sooooo I sent an email hopefully I'll get a response.  Basically in our waters the rough fish and invasive weeds are otta control.  We've had milfoil for a spell but Starry stone wort showed its ugly head. Somehow tho the game fish are doing pretty good,  except the Northerns,  some how some way the harpooning could be the reason!!!  :whistling: although the carp have a pretty good hand in it. :rotflmao:

Figured I'd double check to make sure glenn wasn't packing me about St. Olaf. He wasn't altho anyone who thinks they'll have any impact will have to get around the people who actually own the lake or think they do. I see Reeds Lake is on the list too. It was more commonly known as Weeds Lake as that was usually all that was caught there. A friend of mine bought a cabin on it strictly so he would have a place to take a nap when he was out making farm calls. Last time I was on Reeds there were wads of weeds the size of hay bales floating around that the skiers had ripped out with their high power boats. Good times.

Here is the entire list in case anyone is interested:

thinking statewide the fish pretty much are getting a good break with the ice conditions as they are . With an early ice out even better.  I'm all for it. :happy1:

Our current management plan doesn't expire until 2026, so I knew it wasn't on the list. The lake association will put a link to the guy in charge in the Spring & Fall newsletters in 2025 for anyone that wants to contact them & also on Nextdoor as the majority of our property owners also belong to that. It is also pretty common for the guy in charge locally to show up at our annual meeting in August the year before & talk about what the new plan could look like & answer questions anybody might have.  At least that's the way it has worked with previous guy, Weitzel, who is now the regional guy & works out of Bemidji now.

It was the same for Weitzel, usually at least 3-4 days to hear back from him. Sometimes even a week or a little more. But I've emailed him at least 3-4 times & there wasn't 1 time when he didn't respond. :happy1: They really do want to hear from people that use the lakes they manage IMO  as that makes their job a little easier.
