Does anybody know what a ticket to a Wolves game costs these days? Last game I was at was at the Metrodome. I was in the Bob Uecker seats in the "top row" and the players looked like little toy army guys running around.

i know there isnt many, if any, NBA followers here, but it's all over MSN, SportsCenter, even brought up during the gophers game, but one time Timberwolves player, Jimmy Butler, who plays for Miami now has been suspended from the team for 7 games because of conduct detrimental to the team.  and is on the trading block.

not sure any team would really want him. a helllofa basketball player but a total  :moon:wipe!!!! he was when he was here! self centered jerk!!!!!!

NBA should suspend a bunch of those guys for being detrimental to the game. But yes Jimmy is extra special for sure.

I'm leaning more and more towards all the athletes of the major 4 sports being on a year to year contract vs these long term deals. Pay them their boatload of money and participate in an insurance policy with the player that if they get hurt they are protected. But at the end of the year both the team or player walk away. Have a great year and you are a free agent. Be a tool and you're taking a pay cut the following year.

I just looked, db, & their next home game is against the LA Clippers. According to ESPN the cheapest tickets available is $16 but when I click on the ticket info it says they're $23 with fees included. It looks like all those tickets are for the corners of the upper level too.

Since this is a basketball thread I have a serious question.

Do NBA fans view todays game as a real sport or more as entertainment along the lines of WWE and wrestling? Both with amazing athletes but the tables tilted towards the stars. Opinion?

Today is the deadline for the arbitrator to announce who will own the team:  Glenn Taylor or Mark Lore and Alex Rodriquez.

This from an SI "insider" blogger:  Wolves insider says 'high-ranking' Glen Taylor hires are interviewing elsewhere

Is it an indication that Marc Lore and Alex Rodriguez are going to win in arbitration?

A-Fraud won. Now you will see what everybody wished for. He will do nothing that doesn't enrich him. Winning will be the last thing on his mind. Moving or extorting a new building will be the first.

The guy (I won't call him a man) has no morals or intergrity. I wouldn't trust him with my enemies last dollar.

Yes, it was fun to watch the Wolves in their playoff run last year.  And it look like things are finally 'jellin' for them (as the kids like to say) after trading KAT.

I saw the replay of the play last night where Gobert got ejected.  The refs missed one call, Rudy retaliated for his guy, and he got tossed.

Contact like that and harder was common place back in the 80s when I watched regularly.  I remember Kevin McHale famously close lining Kurt Rambis after coach KC Jones said, "Anyone let's 'em have an uncontested layup is comin' out of the game."

Way too much flopping.  This was Lebron James' most recent, which drew laughs and taunts from the crowd in Boston.  Players prolly think they are just trying to sell/steal a foul, but instead they end up looking like a bunch of whiner/pansies.

I think it was Sunday I flipped the TV on and the puppies were playing. As tempting as is was I couldn't make myself watch.

It's a terrible sport thats gone the way of Barnum & Baily Circus and WWE.

To those of you who like it....God bless. You have a much higher pain threshold than I do.

Timberwolves sale: Marc Lore, Alex Rodriguez get ownership for $1.5 billion as Glen Taylor settles dispute

The $1.5 billion price tag is far below what other teams have sold for in recent years.

...a saga that began all the way back in 2021, when Lore and Rodriguez agreed to purchase the team for $1.5 billion.

Taylor, who had agreed to sell the teams at a price that would later be revealed to be far below market value, attempted to nix the sale as a result. The Phoenix Suns/Mercury sold for $4 billion in 2023, and the Celtics recently were sold for more than $6 billion in examples of the higher going rates for NBA franchises.

I'm beginning to think it was Glen Taylor who was cursed all these years - not the team.  He wasn't they guy who got all the bad bounces in the ping pong ball lottery draft or the guy who seemed to always be picking the wrong point guard or deciding that the Wolves didn't need Steph Curry.  (Several teams missed on him.)  However, Taylor was the guy behind the Joe Smith collusion deal that cost the franchise all those draft pics and was the one who pissed of Kevin Garnett.  Flip Saunders seemed to have things on a good path during his second tenure with the team, but his untimely death stopped that ascent.  It has only been in the past couple of years that they are finally relevant again with Chris Finch and Tim Connelly.

So now - control freak that Glen appears to be - he makes this crazy deal with Lore and Rodriguez back in 2021 because he doesn't know if he can let go - and it appears that his misreading of the situation caused him to leave several BILLION dollars on the table.   :bonk:
