Big Sandy Lake Ice Condtion

Hoping someone up there can keep me posted throughout the week on ice conditions on Big Sandy. I have a trip planned with some friends for this coming weekend. I'm guessing driving vehicles will be a no-go 

Hoping foot traffic will be okay unless it's a slush swamp on top of the lake. It'll be a .85 mile walk...according to Onx.

i'm up north of deer river and da guy i talked to last week over younder said they were still driving on yet early last week  i'm going up friday.......but fishing the lakes by the cabin so i'll just use wheelers!!!

looking at the temps for up in itasca county...cept for today.....i odnt see the weather doing much damage to the ice for the weekend. and if the sun isnt out....that much better!

We're ~ 10 miles south of glenn or ~ 20 miles north of Deer River. We've had pickup & wheelhouse traffic on our 80-acre bay the last 2 weekends. After yday it looks like a lot of the snow out on the bay is gone, except along the shoreline. It appears that there's still a lot of traffic over on nearby Bowstring yet too.

good to hear.....Eric next door has a place on the east side of Bowstring....he's going to be up andi may just meet up with him and fish the Bow one day!!!!!!

We ran into a group getting bait over at the Bstore on Sunday & they were on Bowstring. It looks like there's at least 6 houses out front of Geiger's yet too.

Barely could see white on the roof here this morning.  It is cold and windy though.  Feels good to be back in the house.

looking at the webcams around bowstring lake.....barely a dusting from what i see, your gonna be further south though. maybe Voopy can enlighten us from the Brainerd area????/

Barely enough to turn the ground white here & it was much the same in GR. Looking at 511 early, it looked like most of it stayed south of Hwy 2 until you went east enough to hit Hwy 65. Mcgregor might've got some as the Duluth TV station was talking about Hinckley's snowfall this morning. But it was still snowing over there when we left for GR a little after 8. I'll see what they say tonight & let you know.

I found a report of only 2" in Duluth, but WCCO's map showed it more like 3 or 4".  The NWS says there's only ~ 1.5" on the ground in McGregor.

I thought I heard mille lacs didn't really get much either so we should be good. No atv's this trip so its ether drive the truck (which I hope) or we walk out. Either way, Saturday looks to be nice and hopefully I'll get the smoker fully of tullibee!

based on what i see on Geigers webcam........the shoreline seems fine yet up there anyway....there's 5-6 ice castle type houses parked on the shoreline.
