I know we talked about it a while back in the morning thread but thought I'd start a new one. Momma had a 60% off at miracle ear so brought my last hearing test with today and got tested again, failed miserably, my ears ring pretty friggen bad. Anywho even with the discount it was 4 grand out the door. Couple good features everything is streamable to the aids, t.v. music, if the phone rings it automatically goes to that.  Looking forward to it, pick them up Friday, but sounds like they'll fine tune them then. No more tuning momma out... :pouty:

Ya they ain't cheap. I envy the vets, they can get them for free in certain circumstances.  Mike....  :happy1: With streaming momma can have the t.v. at her level and won't affect mine. The big test is the home and garden show coming up, lotsa people and noise.

I’ve had tinnitus for years plus some frequencies that I can’t hear. I blame that on gun shots from my youth.  The ringing is either getting worse or I’m paying more attention to it, so I went to an audiologist last week. She confirmed the loss  at certain frequencies so I go back in a few weeks for a hearing aid consult.

Not sure what I’ll do yet. I almost got a 4F when. I took a draft physical years ago, and I don’t think my hearing has really changed, at least not much. The only problem I have is with my wife, who will ask me a question in a normal tone of voice while facing into a corner of the house, on a different floor, at the opposite end of the house, and then tell me “you need a hearing aid.”
I mentioned the ringing to my regular doctor years ago, and he suggested that I turn up the radio.

:rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao: Good one.  Ya I need them too.  If you are on Medicare there is a Tru Hearing that is affiliated with them.  I have talked to 2 people now that got $7,000 hearing aids and only had to pay $1,500 out of pocket.   BUT just another story.  I sure hope yours work.  That is the big thing.  Can't wait to hear from you.  LOLOL   Truly, I am.

I got mine a month or so ago.  i had a big drop off in high frequencies.  The hearing aid adjustments went something like thus.

First she boosted the high frequencies till it was almost uncomfortably loud and had me wear em for 2 weeks to get used to them.  After 2 weeks, same thing.  2 weeks later boosted again and my prescription is dialed in, 'cept with this last boost, high freqs are uncomfortably loud again and I'm in another adjustment period.

She told me that if she'd gone straight to full perscription strength right out of the chute, i wouldn't have tollerated them well and might not have worn them all the time.  Brains need time to adjust.

It is amazing how obnoxiously loud potato chip bags are, polyester clothes rubbing against each other, or even just taking a leak.  On the plus side, I can hear more songbirds again.

Any of you fellers that got em already go thru a similar experience?

Oh yeah, an I hear my own voice thru the hearing aids and it sounds like my voice on a tape recorder.  Weird.  And everyone else sounds like they are talking with a pukey "radio announcer" voice with a Minnesota accent.

And then when I take em out, it is amazing how muffled the sound is.

Good luck. I hope they work out great.
Surprisingly, I don't need them yet but I'm having a terrible time adjusting to dentures. I can't stand them things.
I used to be cute and adorable. Then, I had my first birthday. Been downhill ever since.
