I was wondering if there  is any interest in this . I know bonehead  would like to do it. What we need is other people to help in prep  and  presentation . Oh and also we need  a  competion smoker  on wheels. We can make our own  but I for one  am not the greatest welder  or fabricator.  So  this  is what I am presenting  to all of our members  as well as those  that want to become a member .  Come  on  all lets get this thing  going.   Besides  it would be awsome exposure   for this great site !!!!!!!!  I will chat with the staff and see what we need to do .  This is just a fact finder   ,   so lets here from all you guys and gals that have an interest !

   thank  you  scott

Well as far as both really. The smoker is pretty simple, get plans and weld it up. What all is involved in the competitition and prep side of it i guess is more what i was asking Randy.

here is a guy on a different forum and his
view on the timeline for a kcbs bbq comp
that he was nice enough to share with me to share with you all.
Well, it starts Tuesday or Wednesday, gathering up all your stuff.
Thursday: pack until 11 PM
Friday: Ice the meat, gas up, frantically search for greens, followed by an interminal drive.
Find an organiser, find your spot, work like hell to get set up.
Find the meat inspector and get your meat checked.
Prep your meat. Put it on ice.
Go to the cooks' meeting.
Get your boxes and put them in a safe place.
Socialize until time to light your fire.
Light the cooker. Put the big meat on.
Socialize, check the fire, nap. Repeat as required.
Saturday, dark thirty: Foil it.
Put the ribs on. Stick the big meat.
Bum some coffee.
Smack talk the neighbors.
Stick the big meat.
Pull the big meat, wrap it some more, and put it in a dry cooler.
Check the ribs.
Green the boxes.
Put the chicken on.
Foil the ribs.
Wish everybody luck.
Pull the ribs. Put them in the cooler.
Sauce the chicken.
11:45 Put the chicken in the box.
11:50 Run the chicken
Unwrap the ribs, sauce 'em, put 'em in the cooker.
12:15 Put the ribs in the box.
12:25 Run the ribs
Bust up the butts, foil the best parts, put 'em in the cooker.
12:40 Put the pork in the box
12:55 Run the pork
Slice the brisket.
1:15 Put the brisket in the box
1:25 Run the brisket
1:30-1:45 Rest. Moan about how bad your stuff was to the neighbors.
2:00-4:00 Clean up.
4:00 Go to the awards. Bring chairs. Clap for everybody.
5:00 Finish cleaning up. Congratulate everybody. Ice the leftovers.
Drive home.
Shower.
Sleep.
Sunday: Unpack, clean, wash, and put away.
Monday: Find your way back to work. Stay out of sight and drink lots of coffee

FIRST THING WE NEED TO DO IS SECURE A SMOKER !!   THEN WE WILL WORK ON THE SPONSORS, THEN  THE RUBS  MARINADES  AND SAUCES !! THEN  THE MEAT , THEN THE COMP. THEN  THE ENTRY FEE ,  AND  BOOM  HOPEFULLY WE PLACE TOP THREE .

I was thinking before you compete, maybe a MNO picnic with the "team" cooking, trying it's recipes on the rest of us.. I know you would get honest opinions..  QG   ::spam:;

we could do that!  we would need practice since it
will be a new team. if i can swing my schedule and
it works for anyone else that wants to be part of the
team, maybe we can get to austin mn for the comp
just to see what its like.
