Gordon passes Earnhardt in career wins

With his win in the Aarons 499 at Talladega this past weekend, Jeff Gordon passed Dale Earnhardt for sole possession of 6th on the all time career wins list.

As an Earnhardt fan, I am disappointed, but it was only a matter of time with Dale gone that Jeff would catch and pass him. Even if you don't like Gordon, you have to admit the man can wheel a race car. That's all I have to say about that....

nascar fans must be the dumbest people ever... hey this guy just passed someone who was only 6th, 6TH!!! on the list, let's throw all our garbage and beers onto the track.

I hope he never becomes the first on the all time list, you might have major riots in the south.

I agree with you BFG that these folks must be idiots, however, those people who threw the cans on the track do not represent me or my views, and I do not condone what they did.

I also think it was a very disrespectful act, and does nothing but tarnish the memory of Dale, the accomplishments of both Jeff and Dale, as well as the sport in general. This was the act of a few ignorant people who "think" they are fans, not of the majority of true NASCAR fans. Regardless of who you cheer for and who you cheer against, you have to acknowledge the talent and accomplishments of both of these great ambassadors of the sport.
