My mother feels the same way...however I thought long and hard for years about my tatoo, and after weight loss surgery last year and losing 180 lbs, I went with the old rugged cross look, with the crown of thorns hanging from it...representing the "cross I bear" for the rest of my life maintaining my health for my children.  I went as far as putting their initials at the bottom of the cross, as a reminder of why I am on this planet.

So  I don't think that I am disfigured, I feel as though I am honoring Christ every day of my life by posting "the cross that he bore"

I also do not feel disfigured, All my tattoos have special meaning to me.Like the one on here of my daughter, My sons portrait will be next. I have both there names tattooed on me. Plus I have the sacred heart of jesus to always remind me he is watching. But everyone has there own opinions and thats why we live in the "U.S.A"

Tattoos are like fine art.  I've been to auctions where I've seen paintings by Salvador Dali, Vasserelli, Joan Miro, and others, and while I would never buy or hang those works in my home, I apprecaite the artisitic excellence, genius and talent behind them. 

Same with tattoos.  I've seen some that make me cringe... myself, I have a demure butterfly on my upper right arm.  I would like to get another but I am in no hurry.  There are also those who try to point to Bible verses to condemn tattoos, but when you really dig into the ancient cultures back then, the context surrounding the references to tattoos, and the true meaning of the orginal manuscripts, there is no carte blanche condemnation at all, just the judgement of certain pagan practices where tattooing or piercing was idolotry.

Tattoos, like body piercings, are purely cultural preferences, historically and in modern times.   A sampling of various cultures readilly verifes that fact.... look at Africa, the middle east, India, or the Pacific Islands, or South America, etc.  The United States being a melting pot of cultures, brings to us all things diverse, wild and wonderful - and quite frankly, I feel that is a good thing.

Well my tattoo is fairly bland, but I'll bet some of the other gals have more interesting ones.  I would like to get another tattoo, but have not had the time.
