cool... looks like you'll have a nice 6 or 8 pointer to shoot at this year.
If a gun kills people then I can blame a pen for my misspells?

There is supposed to be a big one around. They call him the ghost buck. I will check it again in 2 or 3 weeks. Might have to put another one out. This is a Moultree 200 3 mega pixel. It has a flash. There was a few night pictures, but it didn't seem bright enough. I think I will get one of those Moultree i40's with the inferred flash.

  • My first Wisconsin deer October 2008
I have the same camera and I think those black pics you are getting is either from small critters or bats or just a slow trigger speed cause they sleep when not in use and take a few seconds to wake up first more than likely a deer triggered it and didnt get the pic actually the flash on the night pics I do have r very clear and bright normally but for the price they r a noce camera mine is actually a 4.1MP shouldnt make a difference though keep me informed via PM about the night pics and battery life
LIFE IS ALWAYS FULL OF CHANGES  SO ALWAYS EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED  SO HUNT WHILE YOU CAN !!!!

I'm jealous...You have the temp on yours. Anyways, I picked this camera up at Wal-Mart last night for $99.99. It is the Moultrie 4.0 Mega Pixels. I put it out by my corn feeder last night and when I checked it this morning it had 120 pictures on it! I thought it was wrong but when I brought it in to take a look...sure enough 120 pictures! I have it set at 2 pictures everytime it gets tripped and 1 minute delays. So it will take 2 pictures when it gets tripped and then wait 1 minute for it to shoot again. I am thinking of making that 1 minute longer as it seems to harass some of the deer. One guy was there for about 10 minutes from 3:15am - 3:25am and I have about 20 pictures of him, 2 for each minute. Anyways here are the pics. I think I am going to love this camera!

This is just in my yard. I do hunt 20 acres on the other side of me. I'm sure I will see some of these deer in my woods as well. Most of them come from a different direction though. Last fall I had 4 spottings of monster bucks in my yard. One had a rack so big and so many tines I couldn't count. I wonder where these deer are!?

Well I think in two nights I have learned one very important thing about trail cameras. They scare the heck out of the deer. Just watching my deer out there in the evening when the camera goes off it spooks them. The only reason they stick around is because there is a 300lb pile of corn. If it weren't for the corn the deer would probably be gone and using alternate routes. So next time you set up your camera with a flash on a trail looking for that big buck....just hope that the camera doesn't find him before you do because he may not be back. I guess I need the infared no flash camera to do some real scouting. This camera will stay at the corn pile. And this is just my opinion but knowing those big ol bucks just remember they didn't get that big being stupid.

From my experience the does and small bucks get used to it.  We don't have big bucks by us (OK very few that are seen every 4 or so years) so I am unsure how they react to the camera.

The land is like a doe hot bed...you have to tip toe through the woods or else you'll step on them! I'm sure some big boy is going to want to move in sometime next month fudd.gif

Last fall I saw 3 of the biggest bucks in my life. One had a rack so thick and big that I almost had a heart attack....I ran outside and he slipped into the woods and snapped a picture. Here is the picture, if you can find him I will  love2.gif you.

When I snapped the picture he had stopped and was looking right at me. The focus went on that damn little tree and I cannot find him. I have looked at this picture sooooo many times but cannot see him. I have zoomed in and done everything. My guess is maybe he is right behind the tree. Oh well.  ??? His rack was big, white and very thick. I guessed at least an 8 and maybe 12. I was shocked. I was standing in my living room talking on the phone about 8am. It was the Monday after firearm opener. I had just spent two days in the woods without seeing a deer and then this in my front yard! He came across the field in front of my house fast with his nose to the ground. Stopped once or twice and looked up.

Another one had so many tines my jaw dropped as he ran off, that was at about 12am in my driveway.

So when I say not exciting......I mean I want them on my camera sad3.gif These deer you see pictured are like my pets. They are here every night. I actually have seen 2 new bucks mixed in now. They are still small racked. Every night my memory gets filled with pictures. At least there are deer here ::cheers::

Why am I not seeing any bigger racks? Have these deer left the area?

I wil put it out in the woods that I am hunting tomorrow. I hate messing with my "hunting" woods but I want to see if there is anything out there. I may turn the flash off. We'll see.

The bigger boys may have moved into their "breeding" areas to get ready for the rut. If you are seeing Does, which from the pics you are, the big boys will come back when the rut kicks in!
