Normally I would not be this negative after only a month, but this team is not very good.  We could have a battle with KC for last place in the division.  We might as well start rebuilding for next year.  Trade a starting pitcher so Lirano can get in the rotation, call up Bartlett so he can get more major leage at bats and bring Kubel back up for the same reason.  While we are at it, trade Torii Hunter, he may be the most overpaid player in the league.

Look at this lineup, what is Gardy doing?

This lineup couldn't beat a Division 1 team!

2. L Castillo, 2B
3. M Redmond, C
4. R White, DH
5. T Hunter, CF
5. L Rodriguez, 1B
6. L Ford, RF-CF
7. T Batista, 3B
8. M Cuddyer, 1B-RF
9. J Castro, SS

Twins Top 10 Prospects
(ranked by Baseball America)

1.Francisco Liriano, LHP, Minnesota
2.Jason Kubel, OF, Minnesota
3.Matt Moses, 3B, New Britain
4.Glen Perkins, LHP, New Britain
5.Anthony Swarzak, RHP, Ft. Myers
6.Denard Span, OF, New Britain
7.Matt Garza, RHP, Ft. Myers
8.Jay Rainville, RHP, Ft. Myers
9.Trevor Plouffe, SS, Ft. Myers
10.Kyle Waldrop, RHP, Beloit

Number 2, 3, and 6 better be starting for this club by the end of the season.  I would rather go through a couple of rough years then have a good team when the new stadium opens.

Yesterday was a great loss 18-1!  The Twins ship is sinking!  I thought our pitching was SO good.

This is not a good state to be a sports fan this year.  It is time to rebuild now.  I would much rather watch games knowing that we are rebuilding and young players are getting experience.  Torii Hunter needs to go now!  He is making about $10,000,000 more than he is worth.

Got to say this last series was pretty impressive ??? At last count it was us getting outscored 33 to 1 one. Best thing we could do to help is put the girl scout team out there. Then at least the opposing team would feel sorry for us and not run up the score.

A couple good games this weekend by the Twins, hopefully we can at least stay competitive for a while, then once we fall out of contention, start building for next year.

We were the 5th worse team in Baseball before this weekend and now only the 6th worse. ;D

Tough division too, with the Sox, Tigers and even Cleveland.

Well the Twinkies may have won and I really hope they continue to do so but how's that old saying go? Something like the sun shines on every dogs #*/ once in awhile.

We are inching our way back to .500 , this team is looking better in the last couple of weeks with the younger players getting more playing time.

I've never been a Cuddyer fan and actually hated this guy up until a month ago when he started playing every day, he sucks as a part time player off the bench, but is a great hitter when he plays every day.

We need a big game from Silva tonight.

The Twins have  won 16 of their last 18 games!  Too bad Detroit has won 15 of their last 17.  The Twins have only gained 1/2 game.  The Twins are still HOT HOT HOT!!!

Go Twins!

The Twins still have no chance this year and I still have the same negative thoughts about all players I mentioned earlier in the year.

I still think Radke should go, but he has been doing decent for the past 3 or 4 starts, hopefully he can keep it up for the rest of the season.

Lohse should of never got called back up, he needs to go away more than Radke does at this time.

Other than that, this team has made enough quality changes in the whole lineup to possibly make a strong playoff run. I like this roster overall. ;D

I don't think there is any way Radke will be traded.  I think he is supposed to retire after this year anyway.  I still think Torii Hunter Needs to go.  The only real problem is that outside of Lew Ford we don't have a centerfielder and the last thing I want to see is Lew Ford as an everyday starter.

I don't think they have any chance to make a playoff run.  What have we won 16 out of the last 17 games and have only made up 1 1/2 games.  This is the best stretch we will have all year and have nothing to show for it in the division.

Let's look at the glass half full.

I think the Twins have turned the corner!  After the horrible start.  The pitching is finally up to everyone expectations.  The offense is actually playing better then most experts thought.  Mainly because of some younger players putting up great numbers.  The Twins may not keep up this torrid pace, but I do believe they will climb back into the playoff race (at least the wild card).  As long as they stay healthy and keep the positive attitude up in the club house.  With Santana and Liriano, they have two of the best starting pitchers in the Majors.  The Twins play great defense!  Pitching and defense win ball games.  Go Twins!

The Twins have climbed back into the playoff race.  Yesterday they moved into a tie with the White Sox and trail NY by a half a game for the wild card.  This is getting exciting!

They've got a tough road ahead yet. I look at the schedule and it frightens me. We need those bats to stay hot.

Well  I guess I have to admit that I was wrong now.  I guess I am glad that I was wrong saying they were done so early.  Their schedule does get a little tougher but they are playing really well right now.

Back on June 17 we were talking about bringing Garza up - If they skip him in the rotation on Wednesday at AAA he will be here for the weekend series with Toronto.  I don't know why they are so hesitant on keeping young talent down on the farm.  Every other major sport has young kids starting and contributing.  Look at the NBA and I offer Lebron James and KG as examples of athletes who contributed at age 18.  Granted, they are an exception but Garza is 22.  If you are good enough age shouldn't be an issue.

it has nothing to do with not wanting him up...  it has something to do with if they call him up, where do they put him?
They would have to make a roster spot and that would mean sending someone down or releasing them. And there is something in the mix that if they send someone down too many times, then they could lose them too because of MLB rules that don't allow a team to send a player down more then a certain amount of times... blah, blah , blah. I am not sure exactly what that rule is...
My guess is that unless some pitcher goes on the dl, you won't see him until sept, when they can go to a 40 man roster.

Ryan, do you know what i am talking about?

I'm not sure about a rule about sending guys up and down a certain number of times, but they would have to make room for him on the 40 man roster.  Just because you take someone off of it does not mean you have to release them though.  That player just goes on the waiver wire and if no one claims him we would keep the player.  We probably have a few guys on the 40 man roster that would not get claimed.  I would like to see Garza up here as soon as possible.

It also has to do with the sooner they call him the sooner he will hit Arbitration, meaning more $ being paid out for TIGHT A$$ and his bobo's...  Oh yea that's Mr Pohlad.

If Terry Ryan is NOT the best GM in baseball with what he has to work with, something is wrong.  To be right there with the Yankees, RedSock's, and the White Socks dispite having a payroll half of what the other pay (even less then the Spankees).

I hope you are wrong, but that is another possible reason they would not call him up.  Although they should be in the new stadium by the time he is eligible for arbitration so they should be able to afford him.  I guess none of that matters if they bring him up and he is not as good as everyone says he is.

ya, ya, ya, this is kida what I was talking about.  They don't want to drop anyone off that roster for fear they get claimed.

What they should really do is drop Lew Ford from the 40 man roster.  I can't believe any team would be interested in him and even if there is I say let him go.
