Heavy rains have raised the water levels in the Ely area. Fish are being caught in 18-30 FOW, of the edges of reefs.
Surface temps are about 66 currently, and the temp at 5-30 FOW on Burntside is 65 degrees. Walleyes observed in 16 feet, along with bass.
Shagawa is producing nice walleyes in 25-30 feet, with the 2-4 pound range being common. Minnows are the bait of choice.
No reports from Basswood or other border lakes. Will post as soon as we get them.
For up to the minute fishing reports, call me at 218-365-4744 before 10 am daily. I have 45 years fishing experience in the Ely area, and have owned and operated the Great Outdoors Bait & Tackle for 23 years (over five times longer than any other current shop owner within a 40+ mile radius) If I don't have an answer for you,  will call someone that does, and get back to you. Thank you!

Water temps are at about 63-64 degrees on the surface, dropping to 61 degrees at up to 28 FOW in Burntside.
No visual sightings of Walleye with camera in up to 28 feet. Bass being caught in 14-28 feet with small suckers and plain hook, trolled slowly.

Crappies were also biting after the rains in 12-15 ft water.  Floating jighead with a splitshot a foot and a half up.  Seeing that a certain bait shop in Ely didn't have crappie minnows,  ;)  small chubs were working just fine as long as you kept moving.

My initial response was to sue her for defamation of character, but then I realized that I had no character.
