hi all,
new to the site and like what i've seen so far.  my father's GSP was put down today at 10 months old due to a bout of blastomyosis, a fungal disease contracted from inhaling contaminated soil particals.  at first the vet thought it was pneumonia and treated accordingly but it never took so after a second opinion they decided in was the fungal infection, though we may never know as a urine sample is needed and analized by the vet labs at Iowa State Uni. in Ames.  my father is in north central iowa and from what i've seen online it seems pretty rare for that area but the vet said its his forth case this fall and knows of many others in the region.  i'm a bit concerned as i have a pup from the same litter as my dads and plan on hunting alot back home in iowa this fall.  anyone else had any experience with this illness in dogs???  thanks in advance.
