Sunday 10/21 Report:  ::fishing::

Today my clients were Edgar Cantu and his pal Nick. The weather conditions were VERY WINDY and the water temp was 60.2 degrees. Lake temps are dropping steadily now and with more seasonable temps on the horizon, turnover is just around the corner. Actually we noticed a fair amount of brown coon tail floating and that's always a clue of what's to come. The flocks of migrating coots out on the flats are steadily growing and that's another one of natures signs. Another 4 to 5 degree drop in water temps and turnover will be peaking.

We started out working for those Toothy Critters and Edgar was the first to make contact. I always instruct my clients to shout "Fish On" when they slam into a pike, but Edgar yelled "Got One" instead. Due to the captain's sharp instincts, I was still able to figure out what he meant, and threw the motor into neutral for the fight.

Edgar managed to catch his best pike ever. After a few high fives, a quick photo and successful release it was back to the hunt. We continued to haul in some more pike before deciding to start chasing smallies.

Buy this time the lake was rolling big time and anyone that's fished with me will tell you that I'm not one to try and hide around the corners from the wind. Therefore we fought the wind as best we could and caught a fair share of smallies. Eventually it got so bad that the anchor wouldn't hold and we had to concede to Mother Nature.

See ya on the water,

Lee

You got the sharpest instincts out there.  Who woulda known "Got one" meant the same thing as "Fish on" ?   :detective:   ;D  I've tried to fish that weather too.  I figure I won't get another chance to hit the water soon so I get every minute I can.

Nice read and nice pics too.  Thanks for sharning.
