The Last Roundup for 2007

Well, 10/28/07 was my last guided trip for this year since I've decided to hang it up till next spring. Was out with Mike Burgoni and his pal Jerry. Both of the guys have their own boats, but decided to give live bait fishing with Lee a shot. This would allow them an opportunity to broaden their fishing knowledge and versatility.

The 6:00 am temps laid a nice coating of frost on the dock and burning tingle on you skin when crossing the lake at full throttle. I tried to convince Mike and Jerry that real men turn around and face the wind while they race across the lake in the morning, but they would have none of it. Well, what can you expect from two guys from the suburbs?

The pike fishing today was a bust for the first time in weeks. Seems like the pike didn't like the calm seas and sunny sky's this morning. Smallmouth fishing started out slow until wind picked up and brought us some some chop on the water. Even with the less intense sun angles in the Fall we still need some chop on the water. Our second spot brought us some better fishing and we wound up making the day worth while.

This should be my last report for the season. Thanks for those who made my year on Geneva the busiest guide season I've ever had. I hope some of you have enjoyed my reports throughout the year as I have enjoyed reports by others. I'll leave you with one final Quote by someone who's had a huge impact on the way fishing is perceived today versus years ago.

"If you're not using trolling, anchoring, or live bait techniques because they are not fashionable, if your worried about having the most expensive boat, and using the latest tackle and the most popular lures, if your image is more important than catching fish, then you will vastly limit your true potential in this sport".

Al Linder

See ya on the water,

Whoa. Another smallie-hog.

Smallmouthguide thanks a million for all the information you shared this year. And thanks for the comment from Al Lindner - I realized I rarely anchor. I'll have to work on that next year.

Hope you have a terrific winter.
