Is anyone else hunting in this wind? I hate it. Went out this morning and thought my tree was going to blow over! After an hour I threw the towel in. Want to head out in the am but not sure if I want to sit in this wind....... ::violin:;

i don't think the deer move around as much in it.  I might be wrong...
If a gun kills people then I can blame a pen for my misspells?

I don't either but if they are rutting hard enough a little wind won't hold the big boy down or will it?

Besides that it is cold! No mater how many layers you put on that wind finds a way in! I might just head out on a field edge for a 1st hour hunt.

If it is cold and really windy you need to get out of the stand and go find the deer rather than waiting for them.  Plus you will stay a little warmer by moving around instead of freezing in your tree.

I spent the entire mid morning in the stand yesterday in the wind, ( south of Hastings) it was definately rocking....it was quiet until almost noon then the woods came alive, squirrels, grouse, corws and deer.....I saw a small forker chasing after 3 does, then the fun began.....over the next 2 hours I saw from a distance 11 does and what may have been the big boy of the woods.  Makes me wish I had a shotgun along but it was an exciting afternoon to say the least.  It will never cease to amaze me how much can be learned every time in the woods, I don't know if the deer were moving because of pressure from the buck, or if they were looking for a bed out of the wind.  Either way it was incredible... yet frustrating to know I was out of range and could only view, I believe my stand location was good but trust me I'm moving it 50 yards or so, I'll be back out tomorrow ........stupid job

Sounds like a good day drifter! I'm very dissapointed this morning! The forecast said strong winds once again this morning and I worked late so I figured I would cancel the morning hunt. When I woke an hour ago I did not hear the wind like I did yesterday and when I went out to get my trail camera I noticed it was calm with the occasional breeze! It is pefect out....Cold and not windy! I hate this feeling. There is a smalll chance I can get out this evening but won't really be able to hunt until Thursday am sad3.gif
