What is a good but economical bow?

Also, do you recommend buying new or used?

Thanks.

Well, Martin makes a really nice bow called the Cheetah.  The bow is built solid out of aircraft aluminum, it has an awesome M Pro single cam, Core Flex laminated limbs, and a lifetime warranty for $350.  You may want to hold out for the new Diamond bow called The Rock.  It will retail right around $399.  Also, check out some Browning stuff.  I have been pretty impressed with the quality and shootability of their bows lately (Plus you can pick one up pretty reasonably)

Cabelas Bargain Cave has a good selection of discontinued and slightly used bows.
Price ranges vary.

Take a look at Parker's Wildfire XP package. Good folks, great light bow package you can shoot right out of the box, all day long.

I had a Parker for 3 days last week. Took it back. Just wasn't what I was looking for in a bow.

Martin bows are loud unless you take them a part and put something inbetween the limbs and the raiser. Cabelas has alot of last years bow on sale. They are new but with a nice discount. but they go quick. Diamond are nice or you get get the new parker buck hunter xp for about $379. for the package. it is nice for the money. It is parelle limb bow. Always buy new if you can you never know if the bow has been dried fired
If today was perfect. There would be no need for tomorrow.

Thanks for the advice.  What does dry fireing do to a bow?

If you "dry fire" a bow that means you drew it back and let the string go with no arrow (load) on the string.  This puts so much extra force into the limbs, it could break/crack the limbs -- not good for them.
If ya don't know where ya are, go back to da beginnin.
