NISSWA - Dave?s Sportland Bait & Tackle, Jason, 2 miles south of Nisswa at the Intersection of Hwy 371 and Cty Rd 77, next to Schaefer?s Foods (218-963-2401) Over the weekend the crappies were hitting great. Anglers did real well on Margaret, Hubert, Wilson Bay, and the Whitefish Chain. Seems like whenever we have nice weather the crappies are active. The best fishing recently has taken place out in the lakes. The channel areas are still producing a few crappies but lots of sunfish. For crappies most were using crappie minnows and the sunnies were biting on waxworms. The lakes are primed for the walleye opener this weekend. Many of our fishing guides are predicting a good opener especially on Gull. The numbers of walleyes in Gull right now is outstanding. Shiner minnows always work best early in the season. Some of the lakes that traditionally open good in the Nisswa area are Gull, Round, Edwards, Pelican and Upper Hay. We?ll be here all weekend to help everyone get geared up and pointed in the right direction.
