Yesterday I walked out to where I plan on spearing and the ice never cracked even when I jumped up and down. Now all I need is for spearing to open. It's nice it's been awhile since there has been decent ice before the first of december. I would go to the hole and try for some crappies but have traps need to be tended in stead. Now lets just hope we get a good 10" before we get a heavy snow to screw it all up.

I guess I'm on both sides of the fence on this one. When there gets more ice I'll just have to trap some beaver problem is I don't have more than a weeks worth scouted out. Oh well then I'll just have to eat more fish and beaver back strap.

Yeah I hope the snow passes us so the ice can do its thing.. BUt I dont know..
I want good ice then a bit of snow to give some traction to walk on.. I hate feeling like your gonna slip on the ice..
Has anyone got those things that go on your boots for traction ?? Just wnat to know how well they work?? WIth my broken ribs IM not about to risk falling :party1:... The pain is bad enough as is that would just not make my day.. :bonk:

:taz: I got a couple pairs last year at Cabelas. One for me and the other for the better half. They look like springs on the bottom. They work great.

Brainerd - a lot of people on N Long, Pelican, Edward. Pretty slushy but doable with 4 wheelers if careful. Some permanents out. ( ? ) Caught 6 Eyes Tues eve and kept 3 >14".

I was out on West Rush, killed the crappies all day. Enough to pick and choose.
