last weekend at the schmeldt fry we started discussing this years IBOT fest.
we are wondering with any? of many reasons, would we get more people to attend if it were closer than waskish?
like say here in the grand rapids area, or even in millelacs area?
we are also talking about having a barbeque instead of a hog roast this year.
we could have bring your own grilling items or we could buy a large quantity and split the costs.
i just don't want anyone to feel left out because they for any reason cant make the trip all the way to waskish.
as long as we get together, i am all for it where ever it may be held.

has anyone else noticed the IBOT site in the last day or two?
something is major wrong. ???

personally I think way more would come if it was near Milacs Lake for several reasons

location of most ibots are from the twin cities area

gas prices

tired of always going to WW

There are a lot of smaller lakes to fish from if they decide to fish some to break the day up out of the wind

lots of places to camp- heck maybe even my mothers place, lots of room to camp, electric, empty pole shed in case it rains-bring the toys, atvs, bikes, fireworks, you get the drift

area lakes within 6 miles
upper and lower south long
round
ericson
camp
clear lake
all of theses have nice boat ramps
just tossing up ideas

Jigglestick I thought you could shed some light on the IBOT Forum mess to get into it

Ya I'd say something is wrong with the ibot site. ?Last night I tried to go there and was given some photo software instead. ?Now it is plain not doing anything.

IBOT Fest is good with me anywhere. ?As long as I am able to, I will be there.

Russ - that sounds like an AWESOME plan.

BYOB - Bring your own Burgers ;D.

russ, if that is an offer, then I would have to raise my hand and say GO.
lets see what the others have to say.
hey maybe we could get your mother to clamp? :o

i have nothing against west wind, but this is a different story this year with the walleye season open. they will be much busier.
i appreciate their hospitality, but i think with gas prices or what ever the reason, i think more people would be able to attend if it were closer to the crapties.

anybody else care to chime in on this?

oh yeah, the ibot site
email this guy
he owns the site

i have no more to do with it than any of you.

bring the shotguns and clays- 22s for target practice for the kids, do a little gun safety training with the kids, kites, lots of room for ideas on over 64+ acres- squirrel, crow hunting etc -if in season- maybe even spot the cougar that was there 3 weeks ago- chase the cattle around, look for 4 leaf clovers- heck Jigglestick bring your chain saws and skid loader along and demo how logging is done, cow pie toss, leaf hunting (find theses tree leaves- red oak, white oak, ash , elm, pines, birch, water ballon toss, egg toss, man I can go on forever- catch the wild cats, learn what itchy weed is and how it can bug you, learn what sticky weed or pig weed is- find the wild kittens and tame them, where do theses ideas come from- Hummmm!!!??

This is great news for me and I'm sure quite a few other IBOTS.

Making the fest more centralized in the state should bring a record # of attendees.

A big thanks to Russ and Judy for offering this to all IBOTS.

Any word on a date yet? I lose track of all these parties, was last years IBOT fest in August?

If we end up taking the barbeque route, I will bring up enough Hamburger patties to take care of everyone, these will be 8 oz patties fresh from the butcher.

I'll just need an approximate head count a week or 2 before the fest. I will say these are the best burgers you can get, I know some of you have allready had a chance to try them at the Pheasant hunts we've put on in the last few years. ;D Whatever head count Jigglestick gives me, I'll make sure to have plenty of extras too.

I would guess we had 40 or so IBOTS and family show up last year, and with this years fest being closer to the cities, we could probably make a good run at 100 guests???? Lots of clamping will be happening at IBOT fest 2006  ;D

Depending on the date (Please not in July) I am in and will probably bring a couple folks...  UNLIKE Mayfly  ;D I WILL CLAMP...  Sometimes you can find me walking around the house with a clamp on my nose, and it ain't one of the small ones either!!!

Maybe a little contest on Mille Lacs out of Rocky Reef Resort?

Like I said don't do July or early August...  Maybe September when the bite picks up a little.

Russ, can you give us an idea on a date that works for you?
if not, can you give us an idea that does not work for you and we can work around that?
we should try to get a date set so people can plan accordingly.
i say any time in july or august except for maybe the fourth, though i am not dead set against that either.

here are some dates
June 23-25
July 14-16
August 11-13

we just picked one weekend in each month and stayed away from holidays and school starting, maybe you could start a poll vote Jigglestick, tally the votes after a week and set the date, no matter what date is picked- not everyone can make it, come for the day or stay for the weekend- just a strong suggestion (leave the dogs at home) theres nothing worse than dog fights around kids or stepping in a pile

June 23-25 does not work for Mayfly or me, we will be working in Rochester at the Waterfowl Expo.

Both the July and August dates given are fine for me.

I am for doing our best to accomodate buckhead. this july date does not work for him.
that would leave august, or another date altogether.
dr.bob, would the weekend after the july date screw you up?
how about anybody else?

now is the time to figure it out, and we also need to start emailing everyone in our address books that might be interested in attending.
i will hit the people in my mailing list, you all do the same.
some body else chime in on this in the IBOT forum as well.

If we get more people than at any other IBOT fest, I will pay for the fire works again.
now there's an incentive :)

You mean the one in August boss?? That would work for me cause we are not headed into Basswood til Monday of that next week.

If you mean the weekend after July 14-16 that would actually be much better for us than the 14-16th.? The younguns are home that weekend it would be fine.? If the fest is the 14-16 I don't think they will be able to make it.? The weekend b4 we are at Basswood again and then Lizzy is in 4H camp all week.? I don't think the dragon lady will switch because of that and it would be killer on the kids to miss this grand event :P.
