Weather Update
The colder temperatures we have seen as of late have caused increases in ice thickness but have temporarily decreased the fishing pressure on the local lakes.
Lake Mendota
Ice thicknesses are in the 6"-8" range. Northerns and walleyes have been biting in moderation of Governor's Island, Dunn's Bar, Warner Bay, University Shore Line and near the Hatch Cover. Bluegill action has slowed but is still seeing some bites occasionally in University Bay and along University shoreline near the Union and the Limnology Building. Perch Fisherman have been struggling recently, but have had some success out from the Four Doors and the Comadore.

Lake Monona
Monona Bay and the Triangles continue to produce good action on bluegills and crappies. However, sorting is required with fish up to 8" not uncommon. Perch Fishing has been unproductive according to recent reports.

Lake Waubesa
Bluegills and crappies have been biting fairly frequently off of Lake Farm Park's landing, as well as in front of the Green Lantern and on the South End of the lake. 7'-9' of water seems to be the most productive area. Walleye and Northern action has been slow.

Lake Kegonsa
Perch reports are of catches averaging 1-2 fish per hour in 28' of water, out from the State Park boat landing.
