I would look at the the Cardinal series of reels by Abu Garcia. I don't have the reels here but I use these reels for all my slip bobber set up and have been doing so for about 8 years now! I love these reels and for the money you cannot find better in my opinion. They are so comfortable and smooth! You can find them from 20-25 dollars usually and sometimes cheaper depending on what sales are going on. You can also find goos deasl on ebay. I know my Brother got a few on there.

I think you want the 100 or 300 series ultra light.

I caught this fish on a ultra light cardinal reel fishing for spring crappies!

I love the Tica reels for ice fishing but not for open water. The spools are smaller and they hold a lot less line. Otherwise the Ticas are very smooth and great reels.

I changed all of my reels over to either Pfleuger Presidents or the Gander series knockoff of the President.

The Gander series reels run from $39-$49, come with 10 ball bearings and are identical to the Pfleuger President, they are made by Pfleuger for Gander.
