Found a spot with a little warmer water & had some decent action until the wind went down. Only managed 1 nice perch (11.5") but that was it, so it went back. Had 2-3 other good bites but no go. Neighbor had 6 perch about that same size that he kept, along with a slot (20") eye.

Losing the fish off of the the stringer was true....but the size was a little off base

Wow that’s the least number of fishermen I’ve ever seen for an opener on Leech… guess the “Opener” doesn’t mean that much anymore. Heck neither of my neighbors fished it even…

My first trip to Leech and we were on the North side on Saturday. Caught three walleyes, released one of them and two northerns. It was a tad bit choppy up there with 22" to 28" rollers coming through. Seen one other fish caught, really slow.

I think the weather (wind) forecast scared a lot of people away. We ended up with our 3 man limit of walleyes and 25 nice perch. Hit the water at 430am and fished until 1. Took a 3 hour nap and hit the water again. West side of the lake was58 degrees Eastside was 46. Didn't catch our 1st walleye until 630 pm. 8fow with a huge ugly pink and gold 3/4 ounce jig. All the normal walley size and colors didn't work. Fathead also instead of shiners.

We noticed also the lake was less busy, gotta be the wind. Small shiners and jigs did our boat the best, most guys out were dragging rigs which did ok, but vertical did the best. 63° was the high temp we seen. Give it another week and it should be fun!
