Title: Philly Cheesesteak Brats
Post by: ThunderLund78 on December 12/15/19, 11:36:14 AM
A fun and successful weekend! Too cold for the smoker to keep up but got a 20lb batch of philly cheesesteak fresh brats done. Couple of hunting buddies joined me for their first sausage making experience. Have not had a brat yet, but the test patties were great. Looking forward to enjoying these through the winter.

We used diced mozzerella string cheese and surprised how well that held up to heat in the test patties. Just like hi temp cheese.

Great work thunderlund!! , thats good to know about the cheese Great minds think alike,  we did swiss brats.  Good choice in beer too, I think the neighbors sneak in and steal my Busch light since my boxes empty so fast..

Thanks everyone, I'll try to post pics of the cooked finished product when I bust some out - probably later this week. This was supposed to be a three-project weekend - Cody Sticks, Smoked Spicy Maple Rings and Philly Cheese Brats.  The first two, however, are smoked and will have to wait for a warmer weekend.  Honestly, I'm kind of glad it worked out the way it did; was a little more relaxed and more time for a few barley pops with the boys!  Plus we get to do it all again to hammer-out the rest.  Probably wont be until Feb, though.

Spicy Maple rings?!  :hubba:

Yeah Reb, I posted about these a while ago - they're awesome.  Usually when you make a big batch of something, it kind of runs its course and you get tired of it.  But when I make this I eat 1-2 rings a week until it runs out.
