Anyone have reports from this area?  I get to spend a week in the area towards the end of the month and am wondering what lakes I should fish.  We are staying at Breezy Point, but I don't mind trying a different lake if it means better fishing.

Pelican and Gull have been going strong all will be when you get there. Edwards is also a good bet.  My personal choice is always Gull though, its a bullet proof lake.  Good Luck.

Caught a lot of bass and pike over the weekend in an area lake. Not a lot of walleyes fishing shallow cabbage.  :kermit:
Where I'm from calling, flagging and decoying are just basic skills and the kids will do a little guiding just to pay off some bills.

My sister caught a couple walleyes last weekend in about 15 ft of water. I am not sure what the lake temps are at this point but I am going to give it a shot this weekend.

I was up there all week and only got out fishing 3 times.  My kids were with me so they were not real long trips either.  We mostly just tried to catch sunnies which we were able to do.  According to the boat rental place on Pelican the Walleye are in about 20 feet of water around the rocks and off the north east end of Gooseberry island.  That sounds about right to me because that is where I saw them on the fish finder when I drove over those areas.

On another note.  If you are in the area, DO NOT eat at the Marina II resturant.  I am not usually one to complain about this type of stuff, but I can't help it this time.  The food is horrible and way too expensive and the service sucks.  I filled out my comment card after eating there and my wife dropped it off the next day and gave it to the manager.  He understood and said they are having a lot of problems and offered to let us have dinner on him that night, but we couldn't even stand to go back for a free meal.  I guess it is good that they admit they have issues, but they had better get them corrected before they scare everyone away.

Must have been bad if you passed on the free meal. Thanks for the heads up.

I don't know if bad is even a good way to put it.  I got shrimp for $22, there were six on the plate and not that big.  The real killer was the fact that they tasted like the chef rubbed dead fish on them before they got to me.  I love shrimp and have never tasted anything like that before.  I don't even know how they got them to taste so bad.  If you want shrimp, go to Perkins and it will be much better for 1/3 of the price.

Yeah resturants in that area can be hit or miss. However, I love eating at Bar Harbor on Gull Lake. It is expensive so I don't go too often, but it is worth it.
