Since open water is just around the corner and I'm in the process of getting my gear ready I'm wondering what everyone else is spooling their reels up with.  Last year I used flurocarbon line for  the first time and found that no matter what I did I could not get rid of the memory in the line and spent half my time on the water untwisiting it.  Here's what I'm thinking about spooling up with.
Trolling rod-Fireline Crystal 14lb
Jigging Rod-Cajun line 8lb.
I fish in a lake with extremely clear water so line visibility is an issue for me.  Primarily fish for walleyes and smallies.  Let me know what you think of this set up and if you have any tweaks you would recommend.  Thanks, :donatello: (Just had to put the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle on there.  It was calling my name.)

When I was at a recent Walleye fishing seminar nearly every pro there recommended Berkely Fireline-Crystal.  Maybe it was because Berkely was their sponsor?  I don't think so-I think it's because Berkely has quality lines of fishing line!

I'm thinking of giving it a try on one rod.  Then go from there.  Right now I'm running Power Pro and have had no problems with it.  All Superbraids are expensive...and as of now Berkely is the only one that is "clear".  We fish the Woman lake chain which is very clear water.  So this might be the way to go this year! ;)

All my Walleye rigs will have Fireline Crystal, but mono for my leaders.

I just spooled up my reel tonight with Western Filament Tuf Line XP braided 15 lb test.

I will be using this rod/reel for general fishing as I am just getting back into it this year after many years of only hunting. I will be shore/dock fishing crappies, sunnys, bass, eyes, and occasionally northerns with my 6 year old son.

I have used silver thread for years because it has so little memory.but I use fireline on all the spinner rigs I make. And it sounds like the crystal is the way to go from all I have been hearing. I have not seen it in the water but I guess that is the goal right?

well I use trillene 8 lb xt  (xt = extra tough) wich is more abrasive resistant and has less strech on my spinning reel, and 12 to 14 trillene xt on my bait caster, and fireline on my muskie set up! but when fishing live bait I always put about 6 to 10 feet of 6 lb or 4 lb floural carbon leader on always! on my ultra light I spool up 4 lb trillene and usaly put a 10 foot floural carbon leader on!

Has anybody used any of the braided lines? Any specific likes or dislikes on it if you have?

Well it must be time to re-spool. It's been so many yrs that I really can't remember what I have on which reel. I could look in my tackle box and see what the spools say.

I don't change my line every yr but I do check it. Due to my job I usually get out 3-4 times a yr in the summer. The rest of the yr the rods sit in the garage out of the weather and sun. I've never noticed that the lines were unusable.

I like the spiderwire for trolling/jigging. The stuff don't cast worth a crap (too much drag) so have mono on rods I cast with. So my ? is with these "new" lines out there Which ones cast like mono but have less streach?

BTW This got me to thinking of how long it's been since re-spool. Spiderwire was the new stuff and fireline wasn't around yet.

This is my line of choice. I think I have been using this for maybe 5 years now?? Back when they called it sensa-thin I believe. Anyway....I love this stuff.

It is what I always use on my slip-bober rigs (walleyes) and it is what I use for everything panfish.

Overall all other lines I use it the most. I do use vanish and fireline for other set-ups as well as xt.

I'm with Mayfly.  The Sensation/Sensithin/Tournament Strength/Premium has been my go-to line for years.

Nearly as limp as XL, better abrasion resistance than XT, excellent knot strength, and lower stretch.  I consider it the best mono on the market, period.

My preference was the photochromic, which they quit making a couple of years ago.  I snagged a bunch of line on close-out at Fleet Farm last year and have it sealed and stored under the steps.
