Well the ice is finally gone. We were able to get on the east 2/3 of the lake Sat. Walker Bay was still froze over. It looked like the east side was not going to be completly open either, but come Saturday mourning, the ice was 90% gone. Today (Monday) Walker Bay is also 90% open. East side completly open. We had a lot of cancellations, because of not knowing what the ice was going to do. The people that showed up had a great day of fishing Saturday. Sunday was a little slower, but still catching fish. Saturday was the best, with plently of eaters, and we are catching a lot of the big Walleye. There were many caught in the 20 to 27 inch range. We have a slot on the lake, but it was a good time catching the big ones anyway. Catch and release is the way to go, because you can catch enough eat, so you might as well have the fun catching the big ones. Leech Lake is back with the stocking of the lake the last several years, and still stocking. Also the control of the Cormorants through the DNR, and the Indiand Reservation, as a joint venture. The fishing is just going to keep getting better on Leech Lake.
