Went out this mourning turkey hunting for my first time. Right away I heard one gobble about 1/2 mile away. The pheasants and geese were out in full strength also. I also had 3 deer walk right by me and they got pissed at my 2 decoys. They were stomping and huffing like crazy. I was about to give up at about 7:50 when all of a sudden a hen turkey came walking down the trail. A jake was about 15 yards behind her. I called him right in and popped him. He weighed 15 pounds. I also had a rooster pheasant fanning for about 45 minutes before the turkeys came in. It was a beautiful mourning to be out. I guess thats what you call beginners luck.

Congrats! It is awesome to be out this time of year right? Was that rooster cackling and flapping his wings?
