What can I say? The walleye are still biting better than ever and I still keep seeing crappies come in every day. The walleye bite is unbeliveable still. Virtually everyone that goes out fishing is going to catch a walleye some how. The good ol' stand by, anchoring and jigging with a minnow, seems to pay off the best for me. I took a group of guys out on Monday morning from West Wind and headed out to a spot I found the day before. By noon the 5 guys had boated over 100 fish and had a limit for shore lunch. One fellow of the group ("Farmer Bob") kept track of his count and ended up with 36 himself. The biggest walleye we had that day was 23.5". Along with a 27" Northern and one BIG northern that was hooked and bit off 20lb test fireline. All in all I would say fishing is GOOD!!! That same spot also produced a 24.5" walleye the day before that my 3 year old son caught on his Cars fishing rod. What a fight it was for him!!! Right now the best fishing we had was in 5-6 feet of water while anchored and the guys trolling say go shallower than that (3-4 ft). The crappies are still hitting later in the evening along the north shore in 4 ft of water. If there ever was a time to come up and fish it would be now. I really don't know how much better it could be!!!
