On Friday the 11th of July a group of us will be heading to Mille Lacs for a weekend camping trip! I haven't been camping yet this year so I am jacked. No one that I am going with knows the lake very well. We know some common names 'n such, but nothing usefull. We will be camping at Fishermen's Warf - 6 1/2 miles north of Isle. If anyone has any Ideas of where we should go that would be great. I'm sure the resort will have some tips, and I think one of us has a gps with a Lakemaster chip so we should be able to figure it out... I just thought I would try to get a head start!

Thank you in advance for any help!

Greg, I should be up a couple times while your there maybe we can have a beer at the Wharf or you could swing down to Macs for a beer on me. Or we could just meet up on the lake and I can invite you out to one of my favorite bobber spots for the eve and the night. This is the time of year you can have a lot of fun with lighted slip bobbers at night out on the lake! Out of the Wharf you have a lot of options. I think a good bet would be to head out past hennepin to the gravel. The spinner bite during the day should be decent but you'll have to work for your fish until evening and then they will hopefully just jump in the boat. Take a look at you GPS and find almost any hump out on the gravel and you'll have decent luck slip bobbering them. I actually prefer to do this all day. I will gaurentee that slip bobbering hump to hump and transition to transition will catch more fish than someone pulling spinners all day long. It is just a matter of what you like to do. You can try shallow rocks as well in the evening and i'm sure you'll catch fish but as of lately I have heard better numbers of fish coming from 15-18 feet of water in the eves. But then again everyday is different. My Brother fished in 12 feet of water during the day a few days ago and did really weel. It was one of those really windy days so he found a somewhat protected area and just fished it and caught some nice fish including a 27/28 inch fish that was lost at the side of the boat :banghead:.   And rememeber it all sounds easy until you get there and remember just how big that damn lake is. With the chip it is like cheating though, fish hold to structure and you can't miss it with the tools of today. Good luck. I'll update a report next week for you. Will probably be up this weekend and then next tue-thur I will be up as well.

P.S. Don't forget about fishing the rocks with slip bobbers early early early in the morning, sometimes that can seem like cheating it is so easy ;)

You can also try the areas just North of the Wharf like Flamingo reef, Agate Reef.
I had good bits there this weekend in 15 foot at dusk and early AM.

I tryed the mud but I slept in to late and I think I missed the best time, we did mark fish out there on Blue Jug as well.

The Sand is slow right now, I think they moved off the sand for now.

Thank you all for the tips. I am getting excited to spend some time up there. I just hope the wind isn't too bad. Sounds like it could be. Tim, how far is where you are to where I will be?
