Fishing Tips... That time of the year for some to be changing over to hunting and forgetting about that open water fishing. A couple of things come to mind this time of the year in getting ready to call it a season for fishing. Good time now to add a stabilizer to your fuel tank on your boat. This way when you run it for that last time the stabilizer will already be ran through your system.

Remember to loosen the drag on your reels, your drag system will last longer if it is no longer under tension waiting for next opener. Something else I do is clip the lures off my lines. This makes me tie a new knot and also makes me change up lures, Sometime you get lazy and just fish with the same lure that you have had on all summer long.

Still lots of fishing to be done but it could snow tomorrow so you might as well get a start on getting ready.

Another fishing tip.. Well if you have been keeping track of the water temps we are starting a slow slide downward. Right now water is at 65 degrees which is prime water temperature for Northern Pike. Tossing large spinner baits, the bigger the better is working as the Northerns are coming out of the deep water to work shallow water. Now shallow can be anything from eight feet to a foot of water. Slow rolling a spinner bait which is just moving a bait across the top of the weeds can trigger bites.  Look for warm water and flats next to deep holes. Green weeds are another key place to look at. Don't forget buzz baits can also be deadly this time of year and allow you to quickly cover a lot of water. Don't be afraid to go back to an area that you have already fished. They may be there the second time around. My best luck has been just as the sun settles into the trees, That last hour of light seems to make the big boys come out and want to play.
