Hey all,

Looking to invest in a hang-on tree stand and I was just wondering what everybody out there shoots from, and what you like/dislike about yours?  Is there anything that I really want to make sure that I have / anything that I want to stay away from??

Thank you for the help guys!  ;D

I use a Rivers Edge-Big Foot and have no complaints.  Mine doesn't have the backrest which might be nice.  I usually just roll my coat up behind me or bring an extra pad for against the tree.

I have a big game boss xl.  I like it.  The built in foot rest is nice.  It has a very larg platform for a hang on, and is not too heavy.  Works well for bow and gun hunting.  It's pretty comfortable too.

I have some of the cheapo's from walmart or pamida and they are ok, but could use a little more platform area and I also have a API baby grand that I bought over ten years ago and LOVE it.  The seat is nice and wide and thick and the stand is all welded aluminum construction and it has a huge platform I believe they are around 10 lbs

Here is a link for ya!

If you are looking for something that is quick, light and easy to haul in and take down. Look into Lone Wolf stands, They are rock solid, will not make noise in cold weather but they are not cheap.

Joe is right.  The Lone Wolf's are nice but pricey.  I have a Gorilla Silverback.  It weighs only 11 pounds.  I highly suggest you consider the weight because even an 11 pounder can be difficult if you're not used to hanging one.

I use rivers edge and gorrillas, they are inexpensive and have been solid. they hang easily and have just enough platform room. i hang them in sept-Dec and they have lasted 5 years already and still going strong. try them out, you could probly get 2 or 3 for the price of some other stands

If you don't mind spending some money, than lone wolf stands are the way to go..You can get an assault for $170ish.  This stand is super light (9 lbs) and you can easily carry it in every time you go hunting, back pack straps are included... If you are looking for a more permanent stand, a Big game boss or Rivers Edge stand are pretty inexpensive, but not quite as smooth to carry in/out and put up...

Dude,  I totally am with you.  Lone Wolf makes a sweet stand.  Sometimes they can wear on you behind if you sit a while.....But what an awsome stand thats quick, easy, and light weight.

OH my Gorilla really wore out my butt so I modified the seat with a piece of plywood and high density foam pad.  Now I can sit for hours.  I only get down once a day and will be up there from dark thirty am to dark thirty pm.

That is what I like. If you are looking for something portable you should look into a tree saddle. I know that it seems weird but I love mine. Lonewolf what, my tree saddle wieghs 2.5lbs and I wear it out into the woods so it doesn't catch on brush or anything like that. It is also a great product if you are afraid of heights. I know that for sure because when it comes to leaving the ground you would swear I was hatched instead of born.

thanks so much for all of the replies and advice everyone.. I'm thinking at this point that I may go in the direction of the Lone Wolf Alpha.. ?  Hopefully I can find some kind of after thanksgiving or midseason sale so I have something to use for the second half of the bowhunting season!!
