Boy was that a hot one...? I was sleeping by 6:00 pm last night and woke up just enough to walk up to bed.? The heat sure took it out of me this weekend in a 2 day tournament out on Pleasant and Clearwater in Annandale.?

I thought that if we had 40 lbs for the weekend we would be in the top three, with any luck a chance to win. We came up a few pounds short of that amount and a few places short of 3rd.? We finished in 5th place with a two day weight (6 pike and 11 bass) of 33.75 (minus 1.5 for a dead fish).? There were some great weights despite the scorching weather as of late. Pleasant gave out better fish then I expected, and Clearwater was tougher then I expected.

We had a 6th bass on Pleasant that measured while on the water, but when we re-measured it was an < 1/8" of an inch short.? Combine that with a 1.5lb dead fish penalty on Sunday (that died on the way to the weigh in and still breathing, but would not swim away) we would have had 4th.

We did not loose any fish on Pleasant, but Clearwater was a different story. We lost two 4lb bass that we saw. I also lost another fish while trolling that was taking line as fast as possible. I felt the head nods ala a pike at first, but as soon as it began it was over... Must have ripped some lips.? Also got sheered on Clearwater tossing spinner baits.

Rapala?s put most our fish (10 of the 17 fish, plus many released that we culled or were too small) in the bag this weekend. Whether it was trolling or casting from shallow water out to deep water ripping it up the drop. We only caught three fish (All from Pleasant) on Senko / Bungee worms and one fish came on a spinner bait on Pleasant this weekend. Our first 4 bass on Clearwater came on Sucker Minnows, fishing for Pike, two others came casting / trolling Rap?s. Our pike all came on trolling the Rapala's around structure changes.

Oh well a good weekend and congrats on some impressive weights you guys up top. For once our plan worked, but just did not work well enough.
