Anyone ever go out on Sagatagan? I am thinking about going there tonight. I've never been on that lake, but it's close and some place new. Any tips would be great! Good luck this weekend!!!

I have never fished it, but my cousin lives between St. Cloud and Princeton.  He has been on the lake a few times.  Last year he and a buddy got their limits of northerns and threw back quite a few (using tip ups one day).  There are crappies and good sized bass in the lake too.  The one thing I remember him telling me is there is no gas augers allowed on the lake (no motors of any kind...4-wheelers, snowmobiles).  You will have to drill by hand.

Without a doubt, ice fishing at SJU may be the most secluded this side of Canada.

There are only a few fishhouses on Lake Sagatagan, and zero on Stumpf Lake. It is a rare night to be on the lake with more than another group of anglers.

Lake Sagatagan is a great place to find better than average northern pike. Go to the west side of the lake, and set a tip-up halfway down the water column in 12 feet of water. It shouldn't take long to hit fish.

Crappies reside suspended over the deep hole in the lake, and off of the points near the east side of the lake. On Stumpf, you can find the crappies suspended over the holes, and pike and sunfish along any weedline.

If you give the Gemini Lakes a try, just keep moving until you find fish. With no defined structure, fish freely roam and can be found just about anywhere. You won't find many gamefish in these lakes, but the panfish are numerous.

Thanks for the tips. We went out and got 1 northern and a few crappies. Mostly smaller ones... You were correct. No gas auggers, can't drive. Nothing gas opperated allowed on the lake. It was good to get out. Don't know if I'll go back there again though. It is a long walk to the "good spots" and with this snow it would be a lot of work. Quiet lake. All in all a good time.
