I haven't heard anything yet, but he left the game with a knee injury. :(
Here's to a long life and a merry one.
A quick death and an easy one.
A pretty girl and an honest one.
A cold pint-- and another one!

Vikings top pick Greenway injures left knee

NFL.com wire reports

MINNEAPOLIS (Aug. 14, 2006) -- Minnesota Vikings rookie linebacker Chad Greenway injured his left knee and didn't return in a preseason game on Aug. 14.

Greenway, the team's first-round draft pick from Iowa who is the second-string weakside linebacker behind E.J. Henderson, was covering a kickoff in the first quarter against the Oakland Raiders. He broke through the wedge, but got hurt and limped off the field.

After he was examined on the trainer's table behind the bench, Greenway was able to get up and walk around the sideline. Vikings coach Brad Childress said Greenway would have an MRI on Aug. 15, but provided no other details.

Though he declined to speculate on the severity of the injury, defensive coordinator Mike Tomlin said he felt "sick" for Greenway.

"I'm disappointed for the kid," he said. "Injuries are a part of the game, and we accept that. But I feel bad for him."

Knee injury ends season for Vikes' Greenway

NFL.com wire reports

MINNEAPOLIS (Aug. 15, 2006) -- Vikings rookie linebacker Chad Greenway is out for the season, the result of a knee injury he sustained in Minnesota's first exhibition game.

Greenway was hurt covering a kickoff in the 16-13 loss to the Oakland Raiders. He had an MRI test, but a news release issued by the team didn't specify the nature of the injury.

Coaches and players were unavailable for comment Aug. 15, the first day off for the Vikings since training camp began.

In a prepared statement, coach Brad Childress said he was confident the first-round draft pick would be "completely healthy for the 2007 season."

While he has been the backup weakside linebacker to E.J. Henderson all spring and summer, Greenway was destined for a significant role in the defense -- especially on passing downs. His athleticism is a good fit for special teams, too, which was where he was playing when he got hurt.

"The toughest part in this business is dealing with the injuries and this is no different," said Vikings head coach Brad Childress. "It's unfortunate because Chad improved during our minicamps, OTAs and training camp. He did a pretty good job in the plays he was in there for last night and made a big tackle on special teams. Chad will evaluate his options in the upcoming weeks and we are confident he will be completely healthy for the 2007 season. Chad will have the full time to rehab."

That's too bad, I was excited to see him play this year.  He was a great player at Iowa.
