I tried it last year and absolutely got hooked.  I didn't have any luck but will be out there in full force this year.

What I wasn't sure was if I should apply for the lottery (I know it's already too late) and hope to get 1 week of hunting in prime time or if I should simply wait for the last two weeks hunt.  I elected to hunt the last 2 weeks.  I'd be curious to hear what others' are doing.

Viking,
I'm in the same boat as you.  I haven't decided what to do yet.  I say yet because it is not too late to apply.  You have until tomorrow to apply (extension).   I may just go the last two seasons (two weeks) with the bow.

I heard something last year at the Turkey class (I took the DNR Advanced hunting ,bow and turkey classes last year)If you apply for the lottery and even if you don't get it you are not eligble to for public purchase or season extension is that right ?I was thinking the same thing but if the latter is true then I will wait for the public season

Well, procrastination has won out for me.   I did not apply for the drawing, so now I guess I'm using the bow.   :rotflmao:

Yes.  But only for the last two weeks of the season.  You still need to buy a license though.

My 17-yr. old son plans on trying it with his bow this year.  He said he needs more of a challenge because he's been successful turkey hunting with his shotgun the last few years so he wants to try something different.  Hope he has good luck, and everyone else too!

Right with ya' all.  Turkey hunting with a bow is a rush.  I love it.  My call of choice is a Primos Sonic Dome with a tripple bat cut.

I will be out there hunting them. It is a lot of fun. The guys I go with only use shot gun. They get drawn for the first part of the season. Then we go at the end of the season for me. They go just to call for me. Works out well.  Lots of birds and I am the only one out in the area hunting. It is a blast.

If today was perfect. There would be no need for tomorrow.

My step dad does it with a bow. He has been successful I think the last 7-8 yrs. Only once has he hunted into the second day. He also will let anyone hunt their after he has gotten his, provided they use a bow(no guns). He's a bowhunting fanatic. I asked him about going out after he's done with a sling shot for a head shot. That's fine with him as long as it's legal. Any one know about that? It would be quite leathal as your dealing with a head shot at 3-5 yds. You'd either miss or kill.
