Turkey Clinics are currently underway and will run thru April 2nd.

A $5.00 fee is charged (unless otherwise stated). Although these clinics are not mandatory, we encourage and recommend that you attend one. Many people come every year to hear the latest updates on laws, regulations, and to get questions answered.

Expert hunters have stated that wild turkey hunting requires special skills different from deer and other types of hunting. These clinics have been organized by the Department of Natural Resources to provide you with an in-depth look at the wild turkey in Minnesota. The information learned at these clinics will assist you in becoming a safe and successful turkey hunter.

An up-to-date Turkey Hunters Handbook will be available, only to paid participants, at a clinic. This updated handbook has the latest information and now includes a section on archery hunting of turkeys and fall hunting of turkeys in Minnesota. There is no age restriction for attending a clinic.

Please check the DNR web site for current turkey clinic listings: www.dnr.state.mn.us  or the following landing page:

http://files.dnr.state.mn.us/education_safety/safety/wildlifeclinics/turkey_reg_09.pdf

1.Find the clinic that you are interested in attending and mark it on your calendar.
2.Fill out the REGISTRATION FORM COMPLETELY.
3.Contact the Instructor to verify space.
4.Tear out Registration Form and bring with you to the clinic you plan on attending.
5. Also bring the $5.00 fee (unless otherwise noted) - Some clinics might charge extra for incidental costs such as room rental. Make checks payable to: DNR-Advanced Hunter Education

If you're new to turkey hunting, or even if you've gone, but never attended a clinic, I'd strongly recomend you to hit one!  When I first started turkey hunting, Some of my buddies ribbed me a bit, but I went to one & got some really good info and went to another the next year and got even more good stuff.... its the perfect venue to get insider info and tips from guys who really know their stuff, and they're really there to help you learn.... not like asking some unexperienced guy walkin the isles in a gander mtn or wherever.... not a slam on gander, but these guys really know their stuff.

We are going to ahve a type of "turkey clinic" right here - just look for my thread Nature's Clues to Spring Turkey Activity.

Hope you like it ...

However, I strongly suggest that even seasoned turkey hunters attend one of the state clinics, if for nothing else than to learn about the dangers of turkey hunting - and the latest updates on turkey populations in MN.

God bless and good hunting.
