Hi Baggy
Here are the rules for our league. These might be useful as a reference.

1.   Fishing time will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. unless otherwise specified.  Boats are to be at the landing by the 8:45 closing time.  Penalty for late arrival for weigh-in is loss of points for the night.

2.   Should a week be missed for any reason, it shall not be made up, and the season will end on the scheduled night

3.   In the case of inclement weather, the decision on whether to fish or not will be made at the lake landing at 6:00 p.m. by those club members who are present at the landing.  (majority rules)

4.   Pounds will used for panfish (sunfish & crappies) and inches  measured by rounding up to the next highest quarter inch) will be used for game fish (walleye, bass, pike (northern or muskie).  FIVE ATTENDANCE POINTS WILL BE AWARDED TO EACH TEAM IN ATTENDANCE.  IN ADDITION, 2 POINTS WILL BE AWARDED TO THE LARGEST FISH OF THE NIGHT.  MINIMUM SIZE FOR INCLUSION IN THE NIGHT’S CATCH ARE AS FOLLOWS:
                                    WALLEYE: 12 INCHES
                                    BASS: 12 INCHES
                                    PIKE: 18INCHES
Points are awarded each as follows:

First:       10 points
Second:     8 points
Third:        6 points
Fourth:       4 points
Fifth:           2 points

5.   Total points at the end of the season (per #4) will determine winners.  Ties will be broken with total inches, and if there is still a tie, a coin flip will make the final decision.  Trophies or plaques will be awarded for the following categories:
1st place team   Largest Pike
2nd place team   Largest bass
3rd place team   Largest walleye

6.   Team scores are to be reported on the honor system. Score sheets are to be filled out & initialed each night & turned in to the person in charge of the weigh-in.

7.   Catch & release is strongly encouraged by the league and all State and local fishing laws must be strictly adhered to.  This would mean that a daily legal limit is all that can be legally counted at the end of each night.  The only exception to this is  on pan fish nights.  On these nights, one limit per boat may be legally counted.  (currently 10 crappies & 20 sun fish).

8.   All final decisions on rule interpretations, cancellations, etc.will be made by the league organizer. Violation of these rules is grounds for dismissal from the Loretto Fishing League without rebate of any dues paid.  Should a member or team be challenged for a rules violation or other reason, a majority vote at that time of the individual membership in attendance will establish the final resolution of the challenge.

9.   League and organizers are not responsible for any personal and/or property damage incurred by league members.

10.   Dues will be established at each preseason meeting, and must be paid prior to participation of voting on any subject.  Membership in the league will terminate by resignation, a vote of the membership, or failure to pay dues.

11.   League membership is limited to 12 teams.  The members will vote on membership and the season’s schedule at the pre-season meeting where any other business, including revisions to these rules will also be conducted.  The first order of business will be to collect dues from prospective members.  When filling openings, first preference will be given to alumni of the league.  The organizer for each season will be elected by the membership and the organizer is responsible for calling the preseason meeting.

12.   Each 2 man team must fish in the same boat to make the night’s catch count and at least one member of each 2 man team must be present in the boat in order to fish for each night.

13.   Pre-fishing on any of the lakes chosen is strictly prohibited on the day an event is to be held on that lake.

FAWKINNAE!!!  Do you gotta do a blood test/dna test before entering your contest Doug?!  WOW!

Still sounds like fun though.  :fishing:  :fishing2:

I'm a firm believe in KISS (the acronym not just the band)  :rocker;

Keep It Simple Stupid

Walleye only Tournament (or whatever species that night)

Max. 2 people per boat

Decide on the lake to be fishing the same day-about an hour or 2 before the start.  This prevents cheaters from prefishing the lake and "accidentally hiding them in the livewell"

Tournament starts at 6:30pm (or whenever)-all boats launched and waiting in the water for "Go Time".  If you're late-oh well, less time for you to fish.

Tournament ends at 8:30pm.  All boats meet at the landing (or area around the landing).  Once all boats are trailered, weigh in takes place.

The boat with the most fish weight wins.

If you're keeping track all season-keep track of total fish weights.  Highest-end of season weight wins.  Maybe make it highest end of season weight for each species wins.

That's just some ideas.   :toast:
