spring is starting to show up here on lake mille lacs. the creek that runs along the north side of my house is starting to flow, the snow on the lake is all gone, the snow in the yard is mostly gone, except for the drifts. there are still trucks driving on the lake, but that will soon be done as the shoreline starts to soften up. it won't be long now and i will have my boat in the water looking for sunnies and crappies. watch out around the rock piles and points, as the sun will melt the ice from underneath....................tom fellegy

Nice report Tom, thanks. I'm hoping to make it up to the pond more this year. Only made it up once last year.

the creek on the north side of my house is flowing good after al the rain we got sunday night and monday. i did see a blue heron yesterday. i also seen 2 woodies a few days earlyer. i have been seeing small flocks ( 10 - 20 birds) of ducks flying through the area. i don't know what kind they are, i am not a duck hunter so i am not up on my duck id.  the ice on the north side of cove bay is starting to pull away from shore, 5 to 10 feet of open water in spots. there was open water last week on the north side of mazominee point, so if you really have a need to go out on the ice....... be careful

How is spring looking on the big pond now?
I've still got the portable in the back of the truck, but I've been done with the hardwater for a few weeks now. I just got a package in the mail the other day from Mister Twister. I can't wait until ice out. Those crappies won't know what hit'em.
Here's to a long life and a merry one.

A cold pint-- and another one!

This probably a dumb question I know they fish crappies on the big pond but haven't heard of any one fishing sunfish.
