   1. How many of you spinner bait fishermen have a trailer hook on your spinner bait?
   2. How many of you will place some kind of a soft plastic trailer bait on your spinner bait?

    3.  Would your answers be different if you were using them for pike or muskies?

Yep, I use both....depending on the bite.

If the fish are hitting short, but still agressive, I'll put a stinger on.
If the fish are slower and sluggish, I'll put a plastic trailer on and maybe bulk up the skirt to slow the retrieve down. (mostly later in the season as the water temps drop)

And, I fish mostly for pike and muskie....but, I always catch bass using these techniques.

I always use both
never want to miss a fish
I like the larger profile and added action and contrast (at times)of a trailer
if I want a smaller profile I down size the whole bait but keep the action
I've caught 1/3lb green sunfish on 1/2oz spinnerbaits with a 4in trailer
most times I'm throwing 3/8-3/4oz with a 4in trailer and only vary the skirt/trailer size
to change profiles
I change colors a lot to match the forage (gills,shad/shiners,small carp, craws, frogs and BULLHEADS)
what ever works that day
